We are seeking an experienced Painter (Fabrication) with strong expertise in powder coating and industrial liquid painting processes. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in preparing metal surfaces, applying coatings using advanced spray techniques, and ensuring high-quality finishes that meet ISO and customer specifications. This role also involves leading a small team, maintaining equipment, and driving continuous improvement in painting operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Surface Preparation:
- Clean, sand, mask, abrasive blast (sandblast), and pre-treat metal surfaces to ensure proper adhesion.
- Powder Coating Application:
- Operate electrostatic spray guns, powder booths, and curing ovens.
- Monitor coating thickness, flow, and curing times for durable finishes.
- Industrial Liquid Painting:
- Mix primers, enamels, and polyurethanes with precision (resins, catalysts, thinners).
- Apply coatings using HVLP or airless spray systems to achieve smooth, defect-free finishes.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect finished parts for defects, colour accuracy, and compliance with ISO/customer standards.
- Perform thickness checks using Mil-gauges and adhesion tests (cross-hatch).
- Troubleshoot issues such as orange peel, runs, or adhesion failures.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Clean spray guns, booths, and filters daily to prevent contamination.
- Ensure proper upkeep of ovens, compressors, and painting tools.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and motivate the painting team to achieve production targets.
- Train and mentor junior staff to enhance skill sets and maintain safety standards.
Qualifications & Skills
- ITI certification in Painting / Fabrication or equivalent.
- 8–10 years of hands-on experience in powder coating and industrial liquid painting.
- Strong knowledge of electrostatic spray techniques, curing processes, and HVLP/airless systems.
- Familiarity with ISO standards and customer-specific quality requirements.
- Ability to troubleshoot coating defects and implement corrective actions.
- Leadership skills with experience in team management.
