About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and student-focused Study Abroad Counsellor to join the upGrad Study Abroad division.
The role involves counselling students and working professionals who are exploring international education opportunities. You will understand their academic and career goals, recommend suitable study options, guide them through the university application journey, and coordinate documentation and application-related activities.
The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills, a consultative approach, and an understanding of international education and the student application process.
Key Responsibilities
- Counsel students and working professionals regarding international education opportunities.
- Understand the student's academic background, career objectives, budget and preferred destination.
- Recommend suitable countries, universities, institutions and courses based on the student's profile.
- Explain course structure, eligibility criteria, application requirements, timelines and associated costs.
- Assist students in preparing and organising documents required for university applications.
- Coordinate with students and internal teams throughout the application process.
- Follow up with prospective students and maintain regular communication until the application journey progresses.
- Maintain accurate student records and update activities in the CRM.
- Achieve individual counselling and enrolment targets.
- Stay updated on international education trends, university requirements, courses and changing admission processes.
- Build strong relationships with students and parents through transparent and professional counselling.
- Coordinate with university/institution representatives and relevant internal teams whenever required.
- Participate in education fairs, seminars, workshops, webinars and student engagement activities.
- Ensure a smooth student experience from initial counselling through the application and enrolment stages.
What We Are Looking For
- 1–4 years of experience in study abroad counselling, international education, overseas admissions or education sales.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal and counselling abilities.
- Ability to understand student requirements and recommend appropriate options.
- Comfortable working with targets and follow-up-driven sales processes.
- Good knowledge of international education destinations and admission processes will be an advantage.
- Experience with CRM systems will be an advantage.
- Candidates with experience in counselling for UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or European destinations are preferred.

Compensation
₹25,000 – ₹40,000 per month + performance incentives
Compensation will be aligned with experience, communication skills and relevant industry exposure.
Important
This is a student counselling and international education role. Candidates should be comfortable with counselling, follow-ups, targets and working closely with students throughout their education journey.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
