Job Summary
The Tax Litigation & Controversy Expert will be responsible for managing all direct and indirect tax disputes, handling litigation matters, ensuring regulatory compliance, and representing the organization before tax authorities. The role requires extensive knowledge of Indian tax laws, assessment proceedings, appeals, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
Key ResponsibilitiesTax Litigation Management
- Handle income tax, GST, TDS, and other statutory litigation matters.
- Prepare and review replies to notices, summons, assessment orders, and show-cause notices issued by tax authorities.
- Coordinate with legal counsels, consultants, and tax advisors for ongoing litigation matters.
- Represent the company before tax authorities, appellate tribunals, and government departments wherever required.
- Maintain records of all litigation cases and track case progress.
Tax Controversy & Advisory
- Identify potential tax risks and develop strategies to mitigate litigation exposure.
- Analyze changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the organization.
- Provide strategic guidance on tax disputes and settlement mechanisms.
- Conduct tax health checks and compliance reviews to identify areas of concern.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure proper maintenance of tax documentation, agreements, invoices, and supporting records.
- Review tax positions adopted by the company and ensure adequate documentation for defense during assessments.
- Assist in preparation of tax opinions and legal submissions.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with finance, accounts, legal teams, and external consultants.
- Provide periodic litigation status reports to senior management.
- Support due diligence exercises, audits, and regulatory inspections.
Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (CA) and/or LLB preferred.
- Additional certifications in taxation or litigation management will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 5–12 years of experience in direct and indirect taxation, tax litigation, and controversy management.
- Prior experience with corporate tax advisory firms, Big 4 firms, law firms, or large corporate organizations is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Income Tax Act, GST laws, FEMA, and related regulations.
- Expertise in handling assessments, appeals, and tax dispute resolution.
- Excellent drafting and legal documentation skills.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under strict deadlines and manage multiple litigation matters simultaneously.

Compensation
Salary shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and industry standards.
Pay: ₹294,652.66 - ₹1,000,000.00 per year
