Company: Handmada
Location: Rajkot, Gujarat, India
Department: International Sales & Business Development
Reports To: Director / Head of Sales
Team Managed: Export Sales Executives, Export Sales Interns
About Handmada
Handmada is a global supply group based in Morbi & Rajkot, India, combining manufacturing experience with carefully managed supplier partnerships across tiles, SPC, ceramic fiber & brick, FIBC bags, slabs, sanitary ware, rope, cotton, brass products, kitchen sinks, API, and aluminium bottles. We work with importers, distributors, and project developers across international markets who expect consistency, accountability, and clear communication in every transaction. As we scale our global footprint, we're building a sales team that reflects that same standard — precise, proactive, and genuinely invested in long-term buyer relationships.
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Export Sales Manager to lead our international sales function across multiple product categories and global markets. This is not a purely target-driven sales role — it's a leadership position that combines hands-on client management with team building, mentorship, and process ownership.
You will manage a team of Export Sales Executives, take full ownership of key international accounts, and be responsible for training and onboarding new Export Sales Interns into the team. You'll work closely with production, quality control, documentation, and logistics teams to ensure that what we promise a buyer is exactly what gets delivered.
The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of hands-on international sales experience, understands the realities of export documentation and multi-category B2B selling, and has either led a small team before or is ready to step into that responsibility.
Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Account Management
- Own and grow a portfolio of international B2B accounts across regions including North America, Europe, GCC, Australia, and Southeast Asia
- Identify, qualify, and convert new export leads into long-term buyer relationships
- Lead price negotiations, contract terms, and order finalization while protecting margin and delivery integrity
- Manage the full sales cycle — from initial inquiry to sample dispatch, order confirmation, and post-shipment follow-up
- Coordinate closely with QC and production teams to ensure buyer specifications are met before shipment
- Represent Handmada at international trade shows, buyer meetings, and industry events as required
Team Leadership
- Manage, mentor, and motivate a team of Export Sales Executives, setting clear individual and team targets
- Conduct regular one-on-ones and performance reviews; identify skill gaps and coach accordingly
- Allocate accounts and territories across the team based on strengths, workload, and market priority
- Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and proactive client communication within the team
- Resolve escalations — whether client-facing or internal — with clear judgment and a solutions-first approach
Training & Development
- Design and deliver a structured onboarding and training program for new Export Sales Interns
- Train interns and junior executives on product knowledge, export documentation (LC, BL, COO, packing lists, etc.), pricing structures, negotiation basics, and CRM usage
- Create simple, reusable training materials (SOPs, call scripts, objection-handling guides) so onboarding doesn't rely purely on verbal knowledge transfer
- Evaluate intern performance during and after training periods and provide recommendations on conversion to full-time roles
- Continuously upskill the existing team on new product categories as Handmada's portfolio expands
Process & Reporting
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of leads, quotations, orders, and follow-ups in the CRM
- Prepare and present weekly/monthly sales reports, forecasts, and pipeline reviews to leadership
- Work with the documentation team to ensure export paperwork (invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, LCs) is accurate and timely
- Flag recurring buyer complaints, spec mismatches, or delivery issues to relevant internal teams and drive corrective action
- Continuously refine sales processes, pricing templates, and follow-up cadences based on what's actually converting
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in international/export sales, preferably in manufacturing, building materials, industrial goods, or a multi-category B2B environment
- Proven experience managing or mentoring a team, even informally (team lead, senior executive with training responsibilities, etc.)
- Strong working knowledge of export documentation, incoterms, LC processes, and international shipping/logistics basics
- Demonstrated ability to close deals with international clients across different cultures, time zones, and negotiation styles
- Bachelor's degree in Business, International Trade, Marketing, or a related field (MBA is a plus but not mandatory)
- Excellent written and spoken English; additional languages (Spanish, Arabic, French) are a strong advantage given our target markets
- Proficiency with CRM tools, MS Excel/Google Sheets, and basic ERP systems
Key Skills
- International sales acumen — comfortable pricing, negotiating, and closing across currencies, cultures, and time zones
- People leadership — capable of managing performance, giving feedback, and building a motivated team, not just individual sales chops
- Training and mentorship ability — patient enough to onboard interns from scratch, structured enough to make training repeatable
- Cross-functional coordination — works fluently with QC, production, documentation, and logistics without needing constant hand-holding
- Commercial judgment — knows when to hold price, when to flex on terms, and when to walk away from a bad-fit client
- Attention to detail — export documentation errors are costly; this role requires zero tolerance for sloppy paperwork
- Clear communication — internally with the team and leadership, externally with buyers who expect straight answers, not sales fluff
- Resilience and follow-through — international sales cycles are long; this role requires the discipline to nurture leads over months, not days
What We're Looking For (Beyond the Resume)
We want someone who takes genuine ownership — not someone who just hits monthly numbers and moves on. You should be the kind of person who:
- Actually enjoys training people and takes pride in watching an intern become a confident closer
- Treats every client commitment as something to be honored, not just promised
- Can have a hard conversation with an underperforming team member without avoiding it
- Sees export documentation and process discipline as part of the sales job, not someone else's problem
- Wants to build something — not just fill a seat on a sales floor
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive fixed salary + performance-based incentive structure tied to team and individual targets
- Opportunity to lead and shape a growing export sales team as Handmada scales into new categories and markets
- Exposure to international trade shows and direct buyer relationships across multiple continents
- Clear growth path toward senior sales leadership as the team and portfolio expand
