Position Summary
The IGCSE Psychology Teacher & Student Counsellor will be responsible for delivering engaging and inquiry-based Psychology lessons aligned with the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum while also supporting students' social, emotional, behavioural, and academic well-being through counselling and guidance services.
The role requires a professional who can foster a safe and inclusive learning environment, build strong student relationships, and contribute to the holistic development of learners.
Key Responsibilities
A. Teaching Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver Psychology lessons aligned with Cambridge IGCSE curriculum requirements.
- Design engaging, inquiry-based, and student-centered learning experiences.
- Develop lesson plans, assignments, projects, assessments, and examination preparation materials.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessments.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and parents regarding academic performance.
- Maintain accurate academic records, grades, and student portfolios.
- Integrate research, case studies, critical thinking, and real-world applications into teaching.
- Support students in developing analytical, communication, and independent learning skills.
- Participate in curriculum planning, departmental meetings, and academic initiatives.
- Contribute to school events, exhibitions, competitions, and enrichment programs.
B. Counselling Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counselling sessions to students for academic, emotional, social, and behavioral concerns.
- Support students in managing stress, anxiety, peer relationships, self-esteem, and personal challenges.
- Identify students requiring additional intervention and coordinate with parents, teachers, and external professionals when necessary.
- Conduct student well-being programs, life skills sessions, and mental health awareness initiatives.
- Maintain confidential counselling records and documentation in accordance with school policies.
- Assist students with goal setting, decision-making, and personal development planning.
- Support transition programs for new students and students moving between grades.
- Work closely with teachers to address classroom behavioral and emotional concerns.
- Conduct parent counselling and guidance sessions whenever required.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and emotionally safe school environment.
C. Parent & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with parents through regular communication and counselling support.
- Conduct parent meetings regarding student academic and emotional development.
- Collaborate with academic teams to ensure holistic student support.
- Participate in school-led workshops, orientations, and community engagement initiatives.
Qualifications
Essential
- Master’s degree in psychology.
- B.Ed. or teaching qualification preferred.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in teaching Psychology and/or student counselling.
- Experience with Cambridge IGCSE curriculum preferred.
Preferred
- Certification in Child Counselling, School Counselling, or Clinical Psychology.
- Experience working in an international school environment.
- Knowledge of adolescent development and mental health support practices.
