We are seeking a creative, energetic, and passionate Dance Teacher who can inspire students through dance and performing arts. The candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging dance lessons for students across different age groups, developing their skills and confidence, and preparing students for school events, competitions, assemblies, and cultural programmes.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of different dance forms, excellent classroom management skills, and the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and school leadership.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Learning
- Plan and conduct structured, age-appropriate dance classes for students.
- Teach various dance forms such as Indian Classical, Folk, Bollywood, Contemporary, Western, Hip-Hop, and other relevant forms, according to expertise and curriculum requirements.
- Develop students' rhythm, coordination, flexibility, body movement, expression, and stage confidence.
- Use engaging and activity-based teaching methodologies.
- Adapt dance instruction according to students' age, ability, and learning needs.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.
2. Event & Performance Preparation
- Prepare students for annual functions, cultural programmes, assemblies, competitions, celebrations, sports events, and other school activities.
- Choreograph performances according to the theme, age group, occasion, and school requirements.
- Select appropriate music, movements, formations, costumes, and props in consultation with the school management.
- Conduct regular rehearsals and ensure students are adequately prepared for performances.
- Coordinate with teachers and event teams for stage arrangements and performances.
3. Student Development
- Identify students with special interest and talent in dance and provide additional guidance.
- Encourage students to participate in inter-school and intra-school competitions.
- Mentor students to build confidence, discipline, teamwork, creativity, and stage presence.
- Maintain appropriate records of student participation and performance where required.
4. Classroom & Student Management
- Maintain discipline and ensure students follow safety instructions during dance sessions.
- Ensure proper warm-up and cool-down exercises to minimise the risk of injury.
- Monitor students during practice and immediately report any injury or safety concern.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and ensure student safety at all times.
5. Planning & Coordination
- Prepare lesson plans and annual/term-wise dance plans as required by the school.
- Coordinate with Class Teachers, Activity Coordinators, and other faculty members.
- Participate actively in school meetings, training programmes, workshops, and professional development activities.
- Maintain and take proper care of dance equipment, music systems, props, and other resources.
- Contribute creative ideas for enhancing the school's performing arts programme.
6. Administrative & Professional Responsibilities
- Follow all school policies, procedures, safeguarding requirements, and the professional code of conduct.
- Maintain punctuality and regular attendance.
- Complete assigned responsibilities within the given timelines.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, parents, and school matters.
- Support the school in promoting a positive and vibrant culture of performing arts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Dance / Performing Arts / Fine Arts / Performing Arts Education or a related field.
- Formal training/certification in one or more recognised dance forms will be an advantage.
- Strong practical knowledge of dance techniques and choreography.
- Previous experience teaching dance in a school or educational institution is preferred.
Experience
- 2–5 years of relevant teaching/choreography experience preferred.
- Candidates with strong performance/choreography credentials and relevant teaching ability may also be considered.

Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be passionate about dance, comfortable working with children, creative in choreography, disciplined, punctual, and willing to take an active role in school events and activities. Candidates with experience in preparing students for competitions and large-scale school productions will be preferred.
