Position: Consultant Pulmonologist

Job Summary:
The Consultant Pulmonologist will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing diseases of the respiratory system. The role involves providing comprehensive care to patients with acute and chronic pulmonary conditions, performing specialized respiratory procedures, coordinating multidisciplinary care, and ensuring high standards of patient safety and clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed patient evaluations, including medical history and physical examinations.
- Diagnose and manage respiratory disorders such as asthma, COPD, pneumonia, tuberculosis, interstitial lung disease, pleural diseases, and sleep-related breathing disorders.
- Provide outpatient consultations and inpatient medical care.
- Order and interpret diagnostic investigations including pulmonary function tests (PFTs), arterial blood gases (ABG), chest X-rays, CT scans, and laboratory tests.
- Prescribe medications, respiratory therapies, and treatment plans based on clinical assessment.
- Perform and interpret bronchoscopy procedures as indicated.
- Perform pleural aspiration, pleural biopsy, thoracentesis, and chest tube insertion when required.
- Manage patients requiring oxygen therapy, non-invasive ventilation (NIV), and respiratory support.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as necessary.
- Coordinate referrals and multidisciplinary management with other specialties.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely medical records.
- Participate in ward rounds, emergency respiratory care, and ICU consultations as required.
- Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, infection control policies, NABH standards, and patient safety guidelines.
- Support health awareness programs, pulmonary rehabilitation initiatives, and preventive healthcare activities.
- Attend departmental meetings, clinical audits, CMEs, and quality improvement programs.

Qualifications:
- MBBS from a recognized university.
- MD / DNB in Pulmonary Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, or Tuberculosis & Chest Diseases from a recognized institution.
- Valid medical registration with the Medical Council (State or National).

Experience:
- 0–5 years of post-specialization experience for junior consultant positions.
- 5+ years of experience preferred for senior consultant roles.
- Experience in bronchoscopy and pulmonary procedures will be an added advantage.
