Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior WordPress Developer with a deep understanding of the WordPress ecosystem and robust PHP backend development skills. With 6–9 years of professional experience, you will be responsible for leading the development of complex, high-performance websites, creating custom plugins, and architecting scalable themes. The ideal candidate is someone who bridges the gap between sophisticated backend logic and seamless frontend experiences.
Key Responsibilities

Custom Development: Design and implement complex custom WordPress themes from scratch and develop bespoke plugins to extend core functionality.

Backend Engineering: Write clean, scalable, and well-documented PHP code. Manage database migrations, custom post types, and REST API integrations.

Performance Optimization: Audit and optimize website speed, Core Web Vitals, and server-side performance.

Architecture: Lead the architectural decisions for large-scale WordPress installations, including multisite setups and headless WordPress (Decoupled) environments.

Security: Implement industry-standard security protocols to protect against vulnerabilities and manage regular maintenance/updates.

Integration: Connect WordPress with third-party APIs, CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot), and E-commerce platforms (WooCommerce).

Code Review & Mentorship: Conduct code reviews for junior developers and ensure the team adheres to WordPress Coding Standards.

Team Handling Experience: Experience leading a team of at least 3–5 developers.
Technical Requirements

WordPress Expertise: Advanced knowledge of Hooks (Actions/Filters), the Plugin API, and the WordPress Database Schema.

PHP Mastery: Strong proficiency in PHP (7.4/8.x) and an understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.

Frontend Stack: Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and JavaScript (Vanilla, jQuery, and ideally React for Gutenberg block development).

Database: Experience with MySQL/MariaDB, including writing complex queries and optimization.

Tools & Workflow: Mastery of Git/GitHub, Composer, and local development environments (e.g., Local WP, Docker, or Valet).

E-commerce: Extensive experience customizing WooCommerce (checkout flows, custom product types, and payment gateways).

Deployment: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and managing hosting environments (WP Engine, Kinsta, AWS, or DigitalOcean).
