We are seeking a Shopify Commerce Architect responsible for designing and scaling enterprise-grade commerce platforms built on Shopify and Shopify Plus.
This role focuses on commerce architecture, headless commerce infrastructure, API strategy, platform integrations, and distributed backend services. The architect will define the technical vision and architecture for Shopify ecosystems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
The role requires strong expertise in:
Shopify Plus architecture
Headless commerce frameworks
Shopify APIs and GraphQL optimization
Custom Shopify app development
Node.js based backend services
Enterprise integration architecture
The architect will collaborate with engineering teams, DevOps, and product stakeholders to build scalable commerce systems.
Core Responsibilities
Commerce Platform Architecture
Design enterprise Shopify Plus commerce ecosystems including storefronts, middleware services, custom apps, and integrations.
Architect multi-store commerce platforms supporting multiple brands and markets.
Implement service-oriented architecture (SOA) extending Shopify capabilities.
Design shared commerce services such as pricing engines, promotion engines, inventory services, and order orchestration layers.
Headless Commerce Architecture
Architect headless storefronts using frameworks such as React, Next.js, Remix, or Shopify Hydrogen.
Integrate storefronts using Shopify Storefront GraphQL API.
Implement SSR, SSG, and edge rendering strategies.
Design middleware APIs to abstract Shopify backend services and improve performance.
Shopify API & GraphQL Strategy
Design efficient Shopify API interaction patterns.
Optimize GraphQL queries and API cost management.
Implement Shopify Bulk Operations for large-scale data processing.
Build services interacting with orders, products, customers, inventory, and fulfillments.
Custom Shopify App Architecture
Architect scalable Shopify embedded apps and backend services.
Develop applications using Node.js, Express.js, React, Shopify App Bridge, and Polaris.
Implement OAuth authentication and webhook processing systems.
Design merchant dashboards, automation services, and operational tools.
Enterprise Integrations
Design integrations between Shopify and enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM, OMS, WMS, payment providers, and logistics platforms.
Implement integration patterns including API orchestration, webhooks, message queues, and data synchronization services.
Event-Driven Commerce Systems
Implement event-driven architectures using Shopify webhooks.
Process events such as order creation, fulfillment updates, inventory changes, and customer lifecycle events.
Build background processing systems using queue technologies like Redis, BullMQ, or RabbitMQ.
Scalability & Infrastructure
Design systems capable of supporting high traffic and large order volumes.
Implement caching layers, optimized API pipelines, and monitoring systems.
Ensure platform reliability during peak commerce events and high transaction volumes.
DevOps & Deployment
Define deployment strategies using CI/CD pipelines.
Deploy services on AWS, Google Cloud, or DigitalOcean.
Use containerized environments such as Docker.
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
Technical Leadership
Define architecture standards and development best practices.
Lead architecture reviews and engineering decisions.
Mentor development teams and guide technical roadmaps.

Pay: ₹100,000.00 - ₹150,000.00 per month
