Fragrance Evaluator & Product Application Specialist (Home Fragrance)
Company: The Fragrance People / Delta Exports
Location: Chhatarpur, New Delhi, Delhi
Job Type: Full-time, In-person
Salary: ₹30,000 - ₹71,000 a month
Job Description
About Us: Delta Exports / The Fragrance People is a leading manufacturer and exporter of premium home fragrance products, specializing in scented candles, reed diffusers, and incense sticks. We do not manufacture raw fragrance chemicals; instead, we partner with world-class global fragrance houses to source ready-made, high-quality fragrance oils.
The Role: We are seeking a sensory-driven Fragrance Evaluator & Product Application Specialist to serve as our internal "Nose" and technical bridge between our fragrance suppliers and our production team.
Instead of basic chemical gatekeeping, this role is highly practical. You will work closely with our external fragrance suppliers to select new scents, and your primary responsibility will be to test how those fragrance oils perform, burn, and diffuse inside our actual products (waxes, oils, and bases).
Key Responsibilities
- Fragrance Evaluation: Act as the primary internal evaluator for new fragrance submissions from global fragrance houses, selecting and refining scents that match our brand vision.
- Application & Performance Testing: Incorporate sourced fragrance oils into our product bases to rigorously test:
- Scent Throw: Evaluating both cold and hot throw performance in candles and diffusion rates in reed diffusers.
- Product Stability: Monitoring for sweating, discoloration, or cracking in wax blends over time.
- Compatibility: Identifying any burning or wicking issues caused by specific fragrance oils.
- Supplier Collaboration: Maintain close communication with fragrance house technical teams to troubleshoot application issues and refine scent profiles.
- Incoming Quality Check: Olfactorily inspect incoming commercial batches against approved master retention samples to ensure consistent scent profile, strength, and color.
- Documentation: Keep meticulous burn logs, stability timelines, and manage our physical library of master fragrance standards.
- Compliance Tracking: Review supplier-provided technical documents (IFRA compliance, MSDS, Allergen statements) specifically for home fragrance standards.
Required Experience & Skills
- Industry Experience: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience specifically within the Fragrance, Cosmetics, Personal Care, Essential Oils, or Candle industries.
- (Please note: Candidates whose experience is strictly in the Food, Pharmaceutical, or Industrial Chemical sectors will not be considered for this role).
- Sensory Aptitude: Exceptional olfactory senses (smelling power) and a genuine passion for home fragrance trends. An internal smelling and discrimination test will be part of the interview process.
- Technical Understanding: Practical knowledge of how fragrance oils interact with base mediums like waxes (Soy, Paraffin, blends) and diffuser solvents (like DPM).
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Technology, Perfumery/Sensory Science, or a related field is preferred, but solid industry experience is highly valued.
- Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) for tracking test data.
Benefits & Culture
- Competitive compensation tailored to your fragrance industry experience.
- Work in a professional, design-forward product development environment.
- Food / Meals provided at the workplace.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹71,505.05 per month
