Job Summary:**
As a Sr Engineer, Technology Ops at LPL Financial Corp, you will play a critical role in ensuring the recovery capability of our technology infrastructure. You will be responsible for advanced operational support and the implementation of best practices across various systems and platforms to support LPL's advisors and clients.
Job Responsibilities:**
- Provide expert-level application analysis across multiple domains, including servers, networks, databases, and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Lead the creation of recovery plans and runbooks to streamline fail overs to meet Recovery Time Objectives and Recovery Point Objectives.
- Partner with peer engineering teams to develop scripted fail over capabilities for critical applications.
- Automate operational tasks and workflows using scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and automation tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical systems and applications.
- Contribute to the development and enforcement of operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and technical expertise.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance operational capabilities and improve system reliability.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Job Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a technology operations, disaster recovery, or similar role, preferably in a large-scale enterprise environment.
- Proven expertise in executing application and data center failovers.
- Strong proficiency in failover scripting and orchestration tooling.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) including infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Financial services industry experience is a plus.
