Job Title: Fabrication Engineer
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Fabrication Engineer to lead and supervise sheet metal fabrication and welding activities for the manufacturing of Oil & Gas Valve Test Rigs. The ideal candidate should possess strong hands-on knowledge of fabrication processes, welding parameters, assembly techniques, and shop floor management. This role is responsible for ensuring quality, productivity, and on-time delivery while maintaining compliance with engineering drawings and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily fabrication, welding, and assembly activities in the shop floor.
- Interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, P&IDs, and General Arrangement (GA) drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
- Plan and allocate manpower, machines, and materials to meet production schedules.
- Set up and verify welding parameters such as current, voltage, wire feed speed, gas flow rate, travel speed, and heat input based on material thickness and welding process.
- Ensure proper selection of welding consumables, shielding gases, and joint preparation for different materials.
- Monitor welding quality and ensure compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and fabrication standards.
- Coordinate fit-up, tack welding, dimensional inspection, and final assembly of fabricated components.
- Guide welders and fabricators on fabrication methods, welding techniques, distortion control, and rework reduction.
- Verify dimensional accuracy using measuring instruments and ensure assemblies meet drawing tolerances.
- Coordinate with Design, Production Planning, Quality, Stores, and Procurement departments for smooth project execution.
- Review material requirements and monitor material utilization to minimize wastage.
- Troubleshoot fabrication and assembly issues and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, PPE requirements, and housekeeping standards.
- Maintain production records, inspection reports, welding records, and daily progress reports.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5–10 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in manufacturing industrial equipment, skids, pressure-related systems, or Oil & Gas equipment is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes including:
- Laser cutting
- Plasma cutting
- Bending and forming
- Drilling and tapping
- Grinding and finishing
- Assembly and fit-up
- Hands-on knowledge of welding processes including:
- MIG (GMAW)
- TIG (GTAW)
- Arc Welding (SMAW), where applicable
- Ability to set and optimize welding machine parameters based on:
- Material type
- Material thickness
- Joint design
- Welding position
- Heat input requirements
- Knowledge of welding defects, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Familiarity with WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
- Ability to read fabrication drawings, weld symbols, GD&T basics, and assembly drawings.
- Working knowledge of measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bevel gauges, and dial indicators.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and production planning software is an advantage.
Working Conditions
- Shop floor-based supervisory role with regular interaction between production, quality, and engineering teams.
- Occasional overtime may be required to meet project schedules.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
