Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Design & Drawing Fabrication Engineer (Mechanical) with strong expertise in AutoCAD to develop fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and detailed manufacturing documentation. The candidate will be responsible for translating engineering concepts into accurate fabrication drawings, coordinating with production teams, and ensuring designs comply with project specifications and industry standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Drafting
- Prepare detailed fabrication, shop, and assembly drawings using AutoCAD.
- Develop General Arrangement (GA) drawings, sectional views, and detailed component drawings.
- Interpret engineering specifications, sketches, and customer requirements to create accurate technical drawings.
- Revise and update drawings based on project changes and manufacturing feedback.
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable engineering standards and company procedures.
Fabrication Support
- Generate fabrication details for structures, equipment, sheet metal components, and mechanical assemblies.
- Prepare cutting plans, welding details, and fabrication layouts.
- Coordinate with production and fabrication teams to resolve drawing-related issues.
- Support workshop personnel with technical clarification during manufacturing and assembly activities.
Documentation & Estimation
- Prepare Bills of Materials (BOM), material take-offs (MTO), and drawing registers.
- Maintain engineering records, revisions, and document control systems.
- Assist in material planning and procurement by providing accurate design documentation.
Quality & Project Coordination
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, and design accuracy before releasing drawings.
- Coordinate with project engineers, quality teams, and site personnel to ensure smooth project execution.
- Participate in design reviews and implement corrective actions where required.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and fabrication standards.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2–5 years of experience in mechanical design, fabrication detailing, or engineering drafting.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D (AutoCAD 3D knowledge is an advantage).
- Experience in fabrication drawing preparation and manufacturing documentation.
