Position: Tool Maker
Location: D9, 4th Street, Ambattur Industrial Estate, Chennai – 600058
Reporting To: OPERATIONS MANAGER

360° Toolings is an ISO 9001:2015 certified precision press tool and sheet metal stamping company. We design and manufacture Progressive, Tandem, Gang and Hot Stamping tools for leading OEM and Tier 1 manufacturers across India.
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Tool Maker to handle end-to-end manufacturing, assembly and proving of stamping tools. The candidate will be responsible for machining tool components to drawing, assembling complete die sets and conducting press tryouts to achieve dimensional conformance on stamped parts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Machining & Manufacturing
- Read and interpret 2D tool drawings and process sheets independently
- Manufacture tool components (die plates, punches, stripper plates, back plates, guide pillars/bushes etc.) to drawing dimensions and tolerances
- Handle wire cut, heat treatment and CG coordination with outsource vendors
2. Tool Assembly
- Assemble complete stamping die sets (Progressive, Tandem, Gang tools)
- Ensure proper alignment of punch and die, guide pillar and bush fits
- Conduct pre-tryout bench checks — check all moving parts, spring function, shut height
3. Tool Proving & Tryout
- Conduct first-off trial runs
- Inspect stamped parts against drawing — dimensions, form, flatness, burr, finish
- Identify and rectify tool issues — material pickup, burr, misfeed, springback, cracking
- Coordinate with design team for modifications and re-tryout
- Document tryout observations and obtain customer approval on first-off samples
4. Quality & Documentation
- Maintain dimensional inspection records for machined components
- Follow process sheets and work instructions for each operation
- Ensure tool cleanliness, proper storage and identification after tryout
- Report non-conformances and support corrective actions

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Parameter Requirement Education ITI (Tool & Die / Machinist / Fitter) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Experience Minimum 1-2 years in stamping tool manufacturing Tool exposure Progressive / Tandem / Gang tools preferred Industry Automotive / Sheet metal / Press tool industry
