AGM – Electrical (Sponge Iron)
Department: Sponge Iron Unit (SIU)

Job Objective
Responsible for the overall electrical maintenance of the Sponge Iron Unit (SIU), including planning, scheduling, execution, and documentation of all maintenance activities aimed at ensuring maximum operational efficiency of the production unit.
The role also involves driving continuous improvement initiatives and cost optimization programs for all SIU-related electrical maintenance activities covering both Kilns and the RMP Unit.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Maintenance
- Lead and manage all electrical maintenance activities for machinery and equipment within the SIU plant, including Kilns and RMP Unit.
- Prepare and oversee maintenance plans, shift schedules, manpower utilization, work order approvals, and closure validation.
- Ensure effective procurement, storage, utilization, and documentation of maintenance materials and spares.
- Develop and monitor Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) schedules.
- Conduct daily line inspections and identify maintenance requirements for uninterrupted plant operations.
- Ensure timely completion of maintenance activities to minimize production downtime.
- Monitor maintenance documentation and reporting as per departmental SOPs and procedures.
General Administration
- Represent the Electrical Maintenance department during Daily Review Meetings (DRMs) and provide operational updates and issue reports.
- Coordinate with Operations Excellence teams for process improvement, cost reduction, and Root Cause Analysis initiatives.
- Monitor maintenance material consumption and approve requisitions for replenishment.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, SOPs, and maintenance procedures.
- Support cross-functional coordination with Purchase, Stores, Technical Services, and Operations teams.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering or related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, TQM, or Operational Excellence methodologies will be an added advantage.
Desired Experience
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in plant electrical maintenance, preferably in steel or manufacturing industries.
- Minimum 3+ years of leadership or managerial experience.
Functional Skills
- Strong knowledge of plant electrical maintenance systems and maintenance planning.
- Expertise in Preventive Maintenance (PM), Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), and breakdown maintenance management.
- Proven experience in process improvement initiatives and Root Cause Analysis.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and maintenance audits.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of steel manufacturing processes and associated equipment preferred.
