Job Description – Research & Development (R&D) Executive
Position: Research & Development Executive
Department: R&D
Location: Erode
Reporting to: Managing Director
1. Job Summary
The R&D Executive is responsible for developing new products, improving existing products, conducting trials, ensuring product quality, and supporting continuous innovation aligned with market needs and company goals.
2. Key Responsibilities
Product Development
* Develop new food products based on market trends, customer needs, and company strategy.
* Modify and improve existing products for better quality, cost efficiency, taste, or shelf life.
* Conduct bench-level formulations, product trials, and sensory evaluations.
Research & Formulation
* Research new raw materials, ingredients, and technologies.
* Create formulations with accurate measurements and maintain documentation.
* Evaluate alternate suppliers and ingredients for cost optimization.
Process Development
* Work closely with Production to scale up products from lab trial to commercial batch.
* Optimize process parameters to ensure consistency and efficiency.
* Troubleshoot product or process issues in production.
Quality & Compliance
* Ensure all products comply with FSSAI and relevant food safety standards.
* Maintain documentation such as product specifications, SOPs, BOMs, and trial reports.
* Coordinate with QA for shelf-life studies and product stability testing.
Cross-Department Coordination
* Coordinate with Production, QA, Purchase, and Sales for successful product launches.
* Train production and QA teams on new formulations and processes.
3. Required Skills & Qualifications
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Technology / Food Science.
* 1–3 years of experience in R&D (preferably food industry).
* Strong knowledge of food ingredients, formulations, and processing technologies.
* Good understanding of food safety regulations (FSSAI).
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to document processes accurately and clearly.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Married people preferable
