LEAD– INDIRECT TAX – TWO OPEN POSITIONS
A. Academic Qualification – Semi qualified Chartered Accountant
B. Location of Work – Jayanagar 3rd Block, Bangalore
C. Roles, reporting to & expectation – As Lead Indirect Tax, the individual is expected to have excellent theoretical and practical working knowledge of GST Law and must have handled corporate clients specifically IT, Software & Services Sector. This role requires the individual to plan and execute all matters related to GST law including transaction structuring and planning, computing GST payable, handling returns, processing and obtaining GST refunds, handling notice and assessment received from GST department etc This is a client servicing role and this position reports to qualified CA – Manager Audit & Tax.
D. Relevant Experience – Semi qualified professional, with around 2 years in addition to article ship, in client servicing, providing professional consultancy or delivery of indirect tax services. Experience in accounting/audit firm or company, handling multiple corporate clients would be preferred.
E. Job Description – Indirect Tax
· Provide support with proactive tax planning for clients to adopt optimized & well thought out tax structure & help legitimately reduce GST liability.
· Professionally & independently try to understand, assess & advise on the implications of specific transactions, events, or business decisions of clients.
· Prepare and work on GST computation for clients, examine and disallow ineligible credits before ensuring proper & timely remittance of output tax.
· Provide support with independent review, reconciliation, finalization, & filing of GST annual return in Form 9 and help take up and complete GST audit in form 9C, where applicable.
· Provide support with independent review of reconciliation of revenues between GST returns, books of accounts & Income Tax Returns.
· Independently review GST profile of clients to identify opportunities to reduce administrative burden or recognise potential tax savings or enhance/expedite refunds.
· Maintain suitable reports and trackers to effectively report on matters related to indirect tax engagements of allocated clients
· Preparation of draft responses & representation before authorities to notices, responses to tax queries by authorities, compile and provide information & explanation etc.
· Provide professional advisory & opinions to accounting team or to clients, where called for, including holistic participation in discussions on all indirect tax matters.
