Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic General Counsel to oversee all legal matters of the organization. The General Counsel will provide legal guidance to senior management, ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, manage corporate governance, mitigate legal risks, and support business operations through sound legal advice.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal advisor to the company and executive leadership.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage commercial contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
- Ensure compliance with corporate, labor, commercial, and regulatory laws.
- Develop and implement legal policies, procedures, and risk management strategies.
- Handle litigation, disputes, claims, and legal proceedings in coordination with external counsel.
- Advise management on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic business transactions.
- Oversee intellectual property protection, including trademarks, patents, copyrights, and confidentiality agreements.
- Monitor changes in legislation and regulations affecting business operations.
- Support corporate governance activities, board meetings, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Provide legal training and guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Manage relationships with external law firms, regulatory bodies, and government authorities.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy, anti-corruption, and ethical business practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent.
- Master's Degree in Law (LLM) preferred.
- Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
- 10+ years of legal experience, including corporate and commercial law.
- Prior experience as General Counsel, Head of Legal, or Senior Legal Counsel preferred.
- Strong knowledge of corporate governance, contract law, labor law, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
