Head Accountant / Accounts Manager Job Description
A Head Accountant’s profile in a jewelry manufacturing unit takes full ownership of the plant's financial health, strategic cash flows, and corporate governance. This leadership role ensures seamless data mapping between ERP and Tally Prime while managing a high-performing finance team and interacting directly with executive leadership.
Executive Responsibilities
1. Strategic Financial Leadership & Team Management
- Team Supervision: Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of junior and senior accountants, billing clerks, and inventory controllers.
- Workflow Automation: Optimize internal controls and design workflows to seamlessly bridge operational data from GATI to Tally Prime.
- Corporate Governance: Establish robust standard operating procedures (SOPs) for high-value metal security, cash disbursements, and vendor payments.
2. Advanced Metal Control & High-Value Inventory Oversight
- Risk Management: Mitigate financial exposure related to volatile gold and silver market prices using metal hedging strategies or metal loans.
- Variance Audits: Conduct random, high-stakes physical audits of the vault against GATI ERP logs to eliminate internal shrinkage.
- Wastage Optimization: Analyze monthly manufacturing scrap, refining efficiencies, and standard-vs-actual wastage variances.
3. Advanced Taxation, Compliance & Legal Accounts
- Tax Strategy: Manage complex GST refund claims, structural tax planning for job work, and resolve pending tax assessments or notices.
- Audit Ownership: Lead statutory, tax, transfer pricing, and bank concurrent audits to ensure zero non-compliance penalties.
- Legal Compliance: Monitor high-value cash transactions, cash purchase thresholds, and mandatory PAN/Aadhaar reporting requirements under anti-money laundering frameworks.
4. MIS, Budgeting & Finalisation
- Financial Finalization: Independent closing of corporate balance sheets, profit & loss accounts, and consolidated schedules.
- Executive MIS: Present monthly gross margin analyses, cash flow forecasts, and working capital utilization charts directly to the Board of Directors.
- Cost reduction: Identify structural cost-saving opportunities in manufacturing overheads, labor charges, and logistical insurance.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualification: B.Com, M Com, Cost & Management Accountant (CMA), or an MBA in Finance.
- Experience: 10+ years of core accounting experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity within a jewelry manufacturing setup.
- System Expertise: Authoritative knowledge of GATI ERP (metal/stone ledger tracking) and Tally Prime (corporate accounting/tax modules).
