Position Purpose
To lead and drive the overall Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) strategy for the manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, implementation of world-class safety practices, prevention of incidents, and development of a strong safety culture across employees, contractors, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership & Governance
- Develop and implement the organization's safety vision, policies, standards, and procedures.
- Establish a proactive safety culture through visible leadership and employee engagement.
- Drive Zero Harm and Incident-Free Workplace initiatives.
- Chair safety committees and lead periodic safety reviews with management.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable statutory requirements including:
- Factories Act and Rules
- Gujarat Factory Rules
- PESO Requirements
- Fire & Emergency Regulations
- Hazardous Waste Management Rules
- Pollution Control Board Requirements
- ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 Standards
- Liaise with government authorities and regulatory agencies.
Risk Assessment & Control
- Lead HIRA, JSA, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Control Measures.
- Ensure implementation of permit-to-work systems.
- Drive process safety and operational risk management.
- Monitor critical safety controls and compliance.
Manufacturing Shop Floor Safety
- Ensure safe operations in:
- Welding & Fabrication Areas
- Assembly Shops
- Material Handling Operations
- Pressure Testing Areas
- Utility Systems
- Chemical Handling Areas
- Contractor Work Locations
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
Incident Management
- Lead investigation of incidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
- Track closure and effectiveness of mitigation actions.
Contractor Safety Management
- Establish contractor safety management framework.
- Ensure compliance of contractors with safety requirements.
- Conduct contractor safety inductions, evaluations, and audits.
Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and implement emergency response plans.
- Conduct mock drills for fire, gas leakage, medical emergency, and other critical scenarios.
- Coordinate with local emergency authorities.
Training & Capability Building
- Develop annual safety training plans.
- Conduct safety awareness programs across all employee levels.
- Lead onboarding safety inductions for employees and contractors.
- Build safety competency within manufacturing operations.
Audits & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct internal safety audits and management reviews.
- Facilitate third-party audits and customer audits.
- Implement safety improvement projects and best practices.
HSE Performance Monitoring
- Monitor and report:

- TRIR
- Near Miss Reporting
- Safety Observation Closure
- Unsafe Condition Closure
- Audit Compliance Scores
- Present performance dashboards to management.
