Job Summary
The Functional Lead is responsible for leading the design, implementation, optimization, and support of an assigned SAP functional workstream. This role partners with business leaders, IT, implementation partners, and cross-functional teams to ensure SAP capabilities are aligned with standardized business processes, operational requirements, integration needs, and project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the assigned SAP workstream through requirements gathering, fit-to-standard analysis, process design, configuration alignment, testing, training, deployment, and post-go-live support.
- Serve as the primary functional subject matter expert for the assigned SAP domain, ensuring business requirements are clearly understood and translated into effective SAP-enabled solutions.
- Partner with business stakeholders to define future-state processes and identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, and improve operational execution.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications and collaborate with technical teams, integration teams, data teams, security teams, and external partners to deliver scalable solutions.
- Lead workshops, process reviews, design sessions, testing cycles, readiness reviews, and issue-resolution meetings with cross-functional teams.
- Support integration across related SAP workstreams, including Finance, Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Warehouse Management, Planning, and Reporting.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, training materials, test scripts, business scenarios, standard operating procedures, and decision logs.
- Manage workstream defects, enhancement requests, data conversion activities, cutover tasks, open issues, risks, and readiness checkpoints during implementation projects.
- Monitor process performance and recommend improvements related to efficiency, compliance, data quality, user adoption, controls, and business value realization.
- Coach business users, super users, and project team members on SAP functionality, process standards, and leading practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in SAP functional consulting, business systems, process leadership, ERP implementation, or related roles.
- Hands-on experience with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA in one or more functional areas such as Finance, Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Warehouse Management, Planning, or Master Data.
- Experience participating in or leading SAP implementation, rollout, upgrade, or optimization projects.
- Strong understanding of business process design, requirements definition, testing, training, data readiness, cutover, and hypercare activities.
- Ability to work effectively with business stakeholders, IT teams, external partners, and cross-functional workstreams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, private cloud, or RISE with SAP implementations.
- Experience using SAP Activate methodology, fit-to-standard workshops, agile delivery practices, or structured ERP implementation methods.
- Knowledge of integration points across core SAP modules such as FICO, SD, MM, PP, QM, EWM, IBP, PM, and reporting/analytics.
- Experience with data migration, master data governance, security role design, change management, and business readiness activities.
- Professional certification such as SAP certification, PMP, APICS/ASCM, Lean, Six Sigma, CPSM, CIPS, or related business/process certification.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, industrial supply, automotive, aerospace, consumer goods, or complex supply chain environments.

- Data, reporting, controls, and process documentation support improved visibility, governance, and decision-making.
- Issues are resolved quickly through structured root-cause analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and sustainable corrective actions.
- Workstream outcomes support standardization, simplification, scalability, and measurable business value.
