Middle School Social Science Teacher (Grades 6–8)
Reporting To
Principal / Academic Coordinator
Job Summary
The Middle School Social Science Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, inquiry-based, and competency-focused lessons aligned with the CBSE curriculum. The teacher will foster critical thinking, historical understanding, geographical awareness, civic responsibility, and global citizenship while creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Responsibilities
● Plan and deliver effective Social Science lessons for Grades 6–8.
● Teach History, Geography, Political Science, and Economics as per the CBSE curriculum.
● Prepare annual plans, lesson plans, worksheets, assessments, and remedial plans.
● Integrate experiential learning, project-based learning, and technology into classroom teaching.
● Develop students’ analytical, research, map-reading, and presentation skills.
● Encourage discussions, debates, case studies, and collaborative learning.
Assessment & Evaluation
● Design competency-based assessments aligned with CBSE guidelines.
● Evaluate notebooks, assignments, projects, and examinations on time.
● Maintain accurate academic records and student progress reports.
● Provide constructive feedback and support students requiring additional assistance.
Classroom Management
● Create a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment.
● Maintain discipline through positive classroom management practices.
● Promote inclusive education and cater to diverse learning needs.
Student Development
● Encourage participation in quizzes, Model United Nations (MUN), debates, exhibitions, heritage walks, and social awareness programmes.
● Develop values of empathy, responsibility, environmental awareness, and constitutional values.
● Mentor students in academic and personal growth.
Parent & School Engagement
● Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
● Attend PTMs, staff meetings, training programmes, and school events.
● Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary learning initiatives.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s Degree in History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, or Social Science.
● B.Ed. (Mandatory)
● Master’s Degree in a relevant subject (Preferred).
Experience
● 2–5 years of teaching experience in a CBSE school.Freshers can also Apply
● Experience teaching Grades 6–8 preferred.
Skills Required
● Strong subject knowledge.
● Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
● Proficiency in digital teaching tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Smart Boards).
● Ability to create engaging and activity-based lessons.
● Strong planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
