JOB SUMMARY :
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Design Engineer with a strong background in heavy mechanical systems, structural fabrication, plant layouts, and fluid systems (hydraulic, pneumatic, and combustion).
The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience in 3D modeling, detailed drafting, BOM generation, and new product development (NPD). This role demands close collaboration with fabrication, production, service, and purchase teams to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and manufacturable designs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design heavy mechanical systems including structural frames, mechanisms, and thermal equipment such as furnaces.
- Develop detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for fabrication, assembly, and installation.
- Plan and optimize plant layouts, pipeline routing for hydraulic, pneumatic, and combustion systems.
- Create and maintain detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) in MS Excel for production and purchase reference.
- Prepare General Arrangement Drawings (GAD), fabrication drawings, sheet metal drawings, assembly drawings, and nesting details.
- Review and validate design feasibility with manufacturing and fabrication teams.
- Conduct costing and optimization exercises for new product development.
- Collaborate with clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams during New Product Development (NPD).
- Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues in existing machinery, conduct root cause analysis, and propose design improvements.
- Ensure all designs comply with company standards, safety regulations, and quality parameters.
- Maintain proper documentation of design files, change history, and version control.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong experience in mechanical design, structural layout, and thermal system integration.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling and 2D drafting
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, sheet metal design, and fabrication standards.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and combustion systems in industrial equipment.
- Good understanding of costing principles and material selection.
- Strong communication, documentation, and team collaboration skills.
- Quick learner with a solution-oriented mindset.
Required Experience:
3-8 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design for heavy engineering / industrial equipment
Proven background in execution-focused design roles, delivering manufacturing-ready drawings for real projects
Prior exposure to one or more of the following is strongly preferred
1.Furnace systems (melting / holding/reheating) Steel structures and heavy plate fabrication
2.Process equipment for metals, thermal, or recycling industries
The candidate should have a strong understanding of engineering principles, a passion for design, and the ability to solve complex problems. Additional knowledge in combustion, hydraulics, and pneumatics is an advantage for this role.
