The Admissions Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and operational delivery of the Admissions function for Birkbeck India. This role oversees the end-to-end admissions process, ensuring efficient application assessment, high service standards, strict compliance with institutional policies, and an exceptional applicant experience.
The successful candidate will lead and support a team of Admissions Officers, monitor performance metrics, manage operational workflows, and collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to achieve enrollment targets while maintaining rigorous standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality, Operational Excellence & Business Improvement
- End-to-End Management: Oversee the complete admissions lifecycle from initial application receipt through to credential evaluation, offer issuance, and final enrollment.
- SLA Compliance: Monitor admissions workflows and effectively allocate workloads across the team to ensure applications are processed accurately and within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Complex Case Management: Review complex, non-standard, or exceptional admission cases and provide definitive recommendations or escalations.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify process bottlenecks, propose system enhancements, and implement efficiencies to optimize application turnaround times and improve the overall applicant journey.
2. Governance, Risk & Data Management
- Policy Compliance: Ensure all admissions decisions strictly align with Birkbeck’s institutional policies, academic entry requirements, and statutory regulations.
- Risk Mitigation: Manage admissions-related risks and champion ongoing improvement in quality assurance, compliance frameworks, and operational security.
- Data & Reporting: Maintain highly accurate admissions data and documentation. Produce comprehensive reports to support strategic operational planning, enrollment forecasting, and decision-making for leadership and partners.
3. People, Culture & Leadership
- Team Development: Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Admissions Officers, fostering a high-performance, customer-focused, and collaborative team culture.
- Performance Management: Conduct regular performance reviews, set clear KPIs, and provide constructive, ongoing feedback to team members.
- Talent Management: Support the recruitment, onboarding, and continuous training of admissions staff to ensure a knowledgeable and agile team.
4. Stakeholder & Customer Experience
- Service Excellence: Ensure a premier standard of customer service is consistently delivered to applicants, education agents, and internal university stakeholders.
- Relationship Management: Act as a key point of contact for external partners and agents, ensuring all communications are professional, accurate, and timely.
Person SpecificationEducation & Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
Experience
- Industry Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience within higher education admissions, student administration, or the international education sector.
- Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of both the Indian and UK education systems, including academic qualification frameworks, grading systems, and student recruitment practices.
- Leadership: Proven experience supervising, leading, or managing an operational team.
- Systems Experience: Hands-on experience working with Student Management Systems (SMS) and CRM platforms.
- Environment: Experience thriving in a target-driven, fast-paced, and service-focused environment.
- Desirable: Experience working within an international branch campus or a transnational education (TNE) environment.

- Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of university admissions processes, policies, and the broader student lifecycle management.
- Leadership Skills: An effective leader who can command respect, motivate a team, and drive performance.

Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹90,000.00 per month
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Whitefield, Bengaluru, Karnataka: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
