Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Lead Data Engineer / SQL Developer to lead our Data Engineering team in India as part of a global Data & AI organization. This role combines strong hands-on technical expertise, with a primary focus on SQL, along with people leadership and delivery ownership.
As the technical lead, you will serve as the primary point of contact for the local Data Engineering team, providing technical direction, mentoring team members, and resolving technical challenges. You will be accountable for the team's deliverables, ensuring high-quality output, adherence to engineering standards, efficient capacity planning, and timely project execution.
You will work closely with global stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure the India Data Engineering team operates as an integrated, high-performing, and reliable part of the global Data & AI organization.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Delivery Ownership
- Take overall responsibility for the technical output and delivery quality of the Data Engineering team.
- Act as the primary technical escalation point for the team.
- Ensure SQL-based transformations and ELT pipelines meet defined data contracts, quality standards, and performance expectations.
- Review and validate technical deliverables to ensure they meet both functional and technical requirements.
- Drive adherence to development guidelines, coding standards, and Data Engineering best practices.
- Ensure high standards of data quality, scalability, and performance across all solutions.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Data Engineering team with a strong SQL focus.
- Provide technical guidance through design reviews, code reviews, and problem-solving support.
- Foster continuous learning and enhance the team's technical capabilities and delivery maturity.
- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Drive the team's growth into a reliable and quality-focused delivery organization.
Coordination & Collaboration
- Plan team capacity, allocate work, and manage workload effectively.
- Track project progress, manage dependencies, and ensure timely delivery.
- Collaborate with global Data & AI teams, Data Product Managers, Business Stakeholders, and Data Owners.
- Translate business requirements into clear technical solutions and implementation plans.
- Align with global engineering standards, roadmaps, and best practices.
Required Technical SkillsMandatory
- 10–15 years of experience in Data Engineering, SQL Development, or related roles.
- Strong hands-on expertise in advanced SQL development, optimization, debugging, and performance tuning.
- Proven experience leading Data Engineering teams through direct people management or technical leadership.
- Strong ownership of end-to-end delivery, including quality, timelines, and execution.
- Extensive experience using SQL as the primary language for data transformation in production environments.

- Experience with modern Data Lakehouse platforms such as:
- Dremio
- Databricks
- Snowflake
- Experience in data pipeline monitoring, technical validation, and data quality controls.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) for data ingestion and source system integration (databases, APIs, etc.).
- Experience with dbt (Data Build Tool).
- Knowledge of modern ELT architecture and Data Engineering best practices.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies.

Pay: ₹1,800,000.00 - ₹2,000,000.00 per year
