A service advisor acts as the primary liaison between car dealership customers and service technicians, translating customer concerns into technical work orders and vice versa. They manage the entire repair process, including greeting customers, diagnosing issues, providing cost estimates, scheduling work, and explaining repairs upon completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Liaison: Greet customers, listen to concerns, and perform vehicle walkthroughs to identify issues.
- Service Coordination: Write detailed repair orders for technicians and update customers on progress.
- Estimating & Sales: Provide accurate cost and time estimates for repairs and maintenance.
- Technical Translation: Explain complex automotive jargon in simple terms for the customer.
- Quality Control: Ensure services are completed as ordered and to company standards.
Daily Workflow:
- Morning: Greet customers, conduct walk-arounds, and confirm appointments.
- Throughout the Day: Communicate with technicians, call customers to authorize additional repairs, and update them on completion times.
- Afternoon/Closing: Review invoices with customers, handle payments, and manage vehicle pickup.
Key Skills Required:
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to manage customer expectations and complaints.
- Technical Knowledge: Ability to understand automotive systems to accurately document issues.
- Organization: Ability to handle multiple customers and tasks efficiently
