A Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) technician or operator in a hospital cleans, decontaminates, inspects, wraps, and sterilizes medical and surgical instruments. They operate complex autoclaves, run quality control tests, and supply germ-free tools to the operating theatre, ICU, and wards to prevent hospital-acquired infections. Core Responsibilities
- Decontaminate and wash soiled or used surgical tools.
- Operate mechanical washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers.
- Inspect instruments for damage, dirt, or functional defects.
- Assemble instrument trays according to strict checklists.
- Wrap, pack, and label sets with correct sterilization indicators.
- Store sterile goods in controlled, clean environments.
- Distribute ready supplies safely to clinical departments.
- Maintain accurate daily logs and test records.
Requirements and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification or diploma in CSSD / sterile processing technology.
- Strong knowledge of hospital infection control rules.
- High focus on detail and safety protocols.
- Good physical stamina for standing and lifting trays.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
