Job Purpose
The Production Engineer will be primarily responsible for managing and improving fabrication-related manufacturing activities, while also supporting the electronics department as required. The role focuses on ensuring efficient production, adherence to quality standards, effective team handling, and smooth coordination between fabrication and electronics functions. The engineer is expected to interpret mechanical drawings accurately, supervise shop-floor activities, and ensure timely production of high-quality components, preferably in a medical equipment manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
A. Fabrication Department (Primary Responsibility)
- Plan, execute, and monitor daily fabrication activities to meet production targets and delivery timelines.
- Read, understand, and interpret mechanical drawings, fabrication drawings, and assembly drawings.
- Ensure correct fabrication as per drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Supervise and coordinate activities related to:
- Laser cutting machines
- Welding operations (MIG/TIG/Arc – as applicable)
- Lathe machines and basic machining operations
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, and surface finish using appropriate measuring instruments.
- Ensure proper usage, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of fabrication machines.
- Coordinate with design, quality, and stores teams to ensure smooth material flow and issue resolution.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce rework, and minimize wastage.
- Ensure compliance with safety norms, 5S, and good manufacturing practices on the shop floor.
B. Electronics Department (Secondary Responsibility)
- Provide support to the electronics production team when required.
- Coordinate fabrication-related requirements for electronics assemblies, enclosures, and panels.
- Understand basic electronics assembly processes to ensure smooth integration with fabricated parts.
- Assist in resolving production bottlenecks related to mechanical–electronics interfacing.
C. Team Handling & Leadership
- Lead, guide, and motivate shop-floor technicians, operators, and supervisors.
- Allocate work to team members based on skill level and production priorities.
- Monitor manpower productivity and ensure discipline and accountability.
- Train team members on drawings, process standards, safety practices, and quality requirements.
- Act as a link between management and shop-floor teams for effective communication.
D. Quality & Documentation
- Ensure all fabricated parts meet internal quality standards and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with the Quality team for inspections, corrective actions, and root cause analysis.
- Maintain production-related records, daily reports, and shift-wise updates.
- Use MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.
Required Skills & Knowledge
Technical Skills
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical and fabrication drawings.
- Hands-on knowledge of fabrication processes and machines:
- Laser cutting machines
- Welding processes
- Lathe machines and basic machining
- Good understanding of measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Basic understanding of electronics manufacturing processes (support role).
- Familiarity with production planning, process control, and shop-floor management.
Software Skills
- Proficiency in MS Office:
- MS Excel (basic to intermediate data handling and reporting)
- MS Word (documentation)
- MS PowerPoint (presentations and reviews)

Education & Experience
- Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred experience in medical equipment manufacturing or similar precision manufacturing industries.
- Minimum experience: As per company requirement (typically 3–7 years in fabrication-focused production roles).
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Candidates with prior experience in medical equipment manufacturing will be given preference.
- Strong fabrication background with exposure to electronics coordination.
- Experience in handling shop-floor teams in a manufacturing environment.
Working Conditions
- Shop-floor and office-based role.
- Requires regular interaction with machines, operators, and cross-functional teams.
- May require extended working hours during peak production or critical deliveries.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
