Job Summary: To independently perform and assist in non-invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures such as ECHO, TMT, ECG, and Holter monitoring, ensuring high-quality diagnostic outputs, patient safety, and strict adherence to NABH standards and hospital protocols.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Clinical Responsibilities
· Independently perform:
o Electrocardiogram (ECG)
o Treadmill Test (TMT)
o Holter Monitoring (application, removal, and data handling)
· Assist Consultant Cardiologist in:
o 2D Echocardiography (ECHO)
o Stress ECHO (if applicable)
· Ensure proper patient preparation, including briefing, positioning, and consent.
· Accurately place electrodes and ensure high-quality signal acquisition.
· Monitor patients during TMT for any signs of distress, arrhythmias, or abnormalities and take immediate action.
· Recognize basic abnormal findings and promptly escalate to the Consultant.
· Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and privacy throughout procedures.
2. Patient Safety & Infection Control (NABH Compliance)
· Follow infection control protocols including hand hygiene and PPE usage.
· Ensure cleaning and disinfection of equipment after each use.
· Adhere to biomedical waste management protocols.
· Implement patient identification protocols (IPSG) before procedures.
· Report incidents, adverse events, and near misses as per hospital policy.
· Ensure emergency preparedness during TMT (crash cart readiness, emergency response awareness).
3. Documentation & Records
· Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all procedures.
· Ensure proper recording, labeling, and storage of ECG, TMT, ECHO, and Holter data.
· Upload and manage reports in the Hospital Information System (HIS).
· Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with hospital policies.
· Assist in NABH audits and ensure documentation readiness.
4. Equipment Handling & Maintenance
· Operate and maintain ECHO, ECG, TMT, and Holter machines efficiently.
· Perform routine calibration and functional checks.
· Maintain equipment logbooks and preventive maintenance records.
· Report equipment malfunctions promptly and coordinate for repair.
· Ensure adequate stock of consumables (electrodes, gels, thermal paper, batteries, etc.).
5. Coordination & Communication
· Coordinate with consultants, nursing staff, and front office for scheduling procedures.
· Guide patients regarding pre-test and post-test instructions.
· Ensure smooth workflow within the department.
· Support junior technicians and trainees when required.
6. Quality Assurance & NABH Standards
· Adhere to all departmental SOPs and hospital policies.
· Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits.
· Ensure compliance with NABH measurable elements.
· Maintain high standards of service quality and patient satisfaction.
7. Required Skills & Competencies
· Strong technical knowledge of cardiac diagnostic procedures
· Ability to independently handle TMT and Holter procedures
· Good patient handling and communication skills
· Attention to detail and accuracy in recordings
· Basic interpretation awareness (to identify abnormalities)
· Computer proficiency (HIS and reporting systems)
· Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols

· Accuracy and quality of diagnostic outputs

· Turnaround time for test completion and reporting

9. Working Conditions
· Rotational shifts including weekends and holidays
· Continuous interaction with patients in a clinical environment
· Requires standing for extended periods during procedures

· Maintain confidentiality of patient and hospital information
· Participate in training programs and continuous education
· Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by reporting authority
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Cardiac Technology or relevant field
- Minimum 1 years of proven experience in ECHO, TMT, ECG & Holter
- Strong understanding of cardiac diagnostic procedures
- Good communication and patient handling skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
