1. Job Purpose
We are looking for an experienced Chemist to join our plywood manufacturing unit and take responsibility for quality control, chemical/process monitoring, product testing and handling of technical complaints related to plywood products.
The ideal candidate should have prior experience in the plywood industry and should be familiar with plywood manufacturing processes, adhesives/resins, quality parameters and testing procedures.
Candidates who have completed their relevant technical education from IPRITI, Bengaluru will be preferred. The candidate should be based in or willing to work in West Bengal.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Quality Control
- Monitor and maintain the quality of plywood at different stages of production.
- Check raw materials, chemicals, adhesives/resins and other production inputs.
- Conduct routine quality checks and testing of plywood as per company standards.
- Monitor product quality during manufacturing and identify deviations.
- Ensure that finished products meet defined quality specifications.
- Maintain proper records of quality inspection and test results.
- Coordinate with the Production Department to identify and rectify quality issues.
- Identify the root cause of recurring quality problems and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure proper implementation of quality control procedures within the manufacturing process.
B. Chemical & Adhesive Management
- Monitor the preparation and usage of adhesives/resins used in plywood manufacturing.
- Check chemical formulations and ensure correct proportions are maintained.
- Monitor adhesive quality and consistency.
- Coordinate with production personnel regarding chemical and adhesive requirements.
- Maintain records of chemical consumption and batch-wise quality parameters.
- Identify problems related to adhesive performance and recommend corrective measures.
C. Plywood Testing
- Conduct routine testing of plywood as per company specifications.
- Monitor parameters such as bonding quality, moisture, thickness, strength and other applicable quality parameters.
- Maintain batch-wise testing records.
- Identify defective or non-conforming products.
- Coordinate with the production team to ensure corrective action is taken.
- Support the development and improvement of product quality.
D. Customer Complaint Handling
- Handle technical and quality complaints related to plywood products.
- Understand the nature of customer complaints and collect relevant information.
- Investigate complaints related to delamination, bonding, thickness variation, moisture, surface defects and other product-quality issues.
- Coordinate with Sales, Production and Quality teams to investigate customer complaints.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and identify corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare complaint investigation reports.
- Recommend suitable corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain a proper record of all customer quality complaints and their resolution status.
- Provide technical support to the Sales Team whenever required.
E. Production Support
- Work closely with the Production Team to maintain consistent product quality.
- Monitor critical quality parameters during production.
- Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing and quality-related problems.
- Provide technical inputs for improving production processes.
- Support trials of new chemicals, adhesives, raw materials or production processes.
- Assist in reducing rejection, wastage and quality-related production losses.
3. Educational Qualification
Mandatory:
- Graduate in Chemistry / relevant science or technical discipline.
- Candidates with relevant technical qualification in plywood/wood technology will be preferred.
- Candidates passed out from IPRITI, Bengaluru will be given preference.
4. Experience Required
- Relevant experience in the Plywood Industry is mandatory.
- Candidates should have practical knowledge of plywood manufacturing and quality-control processes.
- Experience in adhesive/resin handling and plywood testing will be highly preferred.
- Candidates with experience in handling technical customer complaints will have an added advantage.
5. Location Requirement
- Job Location: West Bengal
- Candidate should preferably be currently based in West Bengal or be willing to relocate/work in West Bengal.
- Candidates with relevant plywood-industry experience from other locations may also be considered if they are willing to relocate.

8. Salary
₹20,000 – ₹25,000 per month
The final salary will depend upon the candidate's qualification, plywood-industry experience, technical knowledge and overall suitability.
9. Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be a graduate with relevant experience in the plywood industry, preferably with an educational background from IPRITI, Bengaluru.
The candidate should have strong practical knowledge of plywood quality control, chemicals/adhesives, product testing, manufacturing processes and technical complaint handling.
The person should be capable of working closely with the Production, Quality and Sales Teams and should be able to independently investigate plywood quality complaints and recommend corrective actions.
Preference: Candidates based in West Bengal and candidates with prior plywood-industry experience.
