The Role
We are looking for someone with Linux experience and a passion for the Linux platform as well as for coaching and developing other Linux engineers. The right person combines this Linux DNA with hard-earned experience of what it takes to support critical production systems. The sort of person who asks what practices help make managing at scale effective, what makes operations consistent and predictable, what approaches minimizes toil and maximizes the leverage of automation? This role will combine operational and governance responsibilities with participating in projects to modernize, optimize, and evolve our Linux offering. As a Linux Team Lead, you will be accountable for delivering rock-solid operations to our internal customers and delegating work to the right people on the team to meet operational objectives, ensure participation in operational improvement and capabilities development efforts, and help staff get opportunities to advance toward their career development goals.

The Linux Service Team within Koch Technologies delivers reliable, secure, and resilient Linux infrastructure that enables our partners to achieve and accelerate their business outcomes. We are seeking team players that are dedicated to creating rock solid operations while building relationships with our internal business partners.
What You Will Do
- Ownership of daily operations: You will ensure our team meets the day-to-day Linux operational demands of the businesses, ensure we're tracking the right KPIs, and ensure we're mobilizing the right members of the team toward the right problems.
- Drive operational improvements: Identify areas of operations where automation, process improvement, or improved tooling can reduce toil, improve efficiency, or increase reliability.
- Support Enterprise Linux Systems : You will support, deploy, manage, and work on projects supporting both small functional workloads as well as mission-critical enterprise systems.
- Automation Enthusiast : Apply your passion for process improvement by helping to identify what can be automated or eliminated to achieve the greatest value. Work with automation teams to implement and improve automation with the help of agentic and interactive AI.
- Innovative Problem Solver : Tackle complex challenges creatively, developing solutions that drive progress and enhance our operations.
- Collaborative Partner : Work collaboratively with teams worldwide, fostering innovation and adopting a principled entrepreneurial mindset that encourages growth.

- Enterprise Container Management: Building a managed container capability is on the horizon, someone with experience in container orchestration and an interest in building that out is a plus
Who Are You (Basic Qualifications)
- Prior people management experience in Linux environment responsible for production systems.
- Expertise in coaching technical staff, providing actionable feedback, helping with career development and advancement.
- Effective delegator who understands how to set team members up for success operating independently, using productive status and steering collaboration without micro-management.
- Leader comfortable with maintaining a culture of accountability, not afraid to have the right conversations when issues are still topical, not only when they are convenient.
- Demonstrated history of advocating for your team members, ensuring your best people are getting opportunities for advancement, compensation increases, and bonus opportunities for above-and-beyond contributions.
- Knowledge of major Linux operating systems. (RedHat, SuSE, Ubuntu)
- Basic experience managing cloud infrastructure in AWS.
- Experience in a mission-critical production environment, understanding the importance of communication, risk management, responsible follow-through, post-incident analysis, and support/on-call coverage.
- Experience working directly with end users and the ability to meet them where they are at technically for communication.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience in roles where you interact directly with business stakeholders or customers. Bonus for roles like consulting, service delivery, managed services, or working in a shared services technical organization.
- Containers and related technologies, such as docker, podman, container repositories, and docker build/compose for container development and testing
- Container orchestration experience with production experience with Kubernetes (k8s), Nomad, ECS, or EKS being a big plus
- Experience with Grafana and Grafana Loki
- Experience with Uyuni for patching
- AWS experience with certification at a Solutions Architect Associate level or higher a plus
- VMWare and KVM virtualization expertise is valuable
- Experience in shell, python, or other scripting languages to automate, optimize, and innovate
- Experience with Ansible, Terraform, or other automation or IaC technologies
