Clean Electric is a Series A funded battery tech company focused on designing and manufacturing advanced li-ion batteries for EVs and energy storage applications which enable 12-min rapid charging, long life and unrivalled safety. We are pushing the boundaries of the EV industry with our Direct Contact Liquid Cooling (DCLC) thermal management, integrated cell-to-pack (CTP) architecture, and proprietary dynamic charging algorithms running on a custom-engineered in-house battery management system.
Founded in 2020 by IIT-BHU graduates Akash Gupta, Abhinav Roy and Ankit Joshi, we are today rapidly scaling and deploying our tech across 2W and 3W segments with plans to enter 4W and commercial vehicles as well. The team comprises multiple IIT, IIM graduates and industry professionals and we are backed by some of the leading Indian VCs.

Role Overview
We are seeking a Design Engineer with hands-on experience in conveyor systems, automation solutions, and mechanical design to join our fast-growing Li-ion battery manufacturing startup. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing material movement systems particularly battery pack conveyors, automated transfer systems, and integration with pneumatic and fabrication units to streamline production and assembly.
Role Description and Key Responsibilities
The role involves tasks including but not limited to -
- Design and develop automated conveyor systems for battery cell & pack handling in assembly lines.
- Select appropriate materials, motors, rollers, belts, and drive systems.
- Integrate pneumatic systems for pick-and-place units and gate controls in conveyors.
- Collaborate with plant layout engineers to optimize equipment footprint.
- Create 2D and 3D models, detailed drawings, and BOMs using AutoCAD/Inventor.
- Work with fabrication vendors to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
- Define and ensure compliance with safety standards and ergonomic requirements.
- Conduct time-motion analysis to ensure cycle time targets are met.
- Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of conveyor setups on shopfloor.
- Maintain design records, revision history, and documentation in PLM systems.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
- 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in conveyor design, plant automation, or material handling systems.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software.
- Strong understanding of pneumatic circuits, valves, and actuator integration.
- Experience in sheet metal and structural fabrication design.
- Knowledge of industrial standards (IS/ANSI) and safety compliance.
- Hands-on experience in working with vendors/fabricators and on-site installation.
- Good understanding of drive systems: gearboxes, chain/belt drives, motor selection.
- Familiarity with electrical panel basics and PLC mounting (bonus).
- Strong documentation and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Desired Skills and Attributes
- Experience in battery or electronics manufacturing lines.
- Understanding of IoT-based conveyor tracking or sensor integration.
- Exposure to lean manufacturing and process optimization tools (5S, Kaizen, etc.).
