Job Summary:
The CAD Designer is responsible for creating detailed and innovative jewellery designs using computer-aided design software. The role involves transforming conceptual ideas into precise 3D models suitable for manufacturing, ensuring design accuracy, aesthetics, and production feasibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD designs for jewellery (rings, necklaces, earrings, bangles, etc.)
- Convert hand sketches, reference images, or concepts into accurate CAD models
- Ensure designs meet technical specifications and production requirements
- Prepare files for 3D printing / CAM / casting processes
- Modify and improve existing designs based on feedback from clients or management
- Work closely with production, merchandising, and design teams
- Maintain design library and proper documentation of all CAD files
- Ensure weight optimization and cost-effectiveness of designs
- Stay updated with latest jewellery trends and CAD technologies
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in CAD software such as:
- Rhino
- Matrix / Matrix Gold
- Jewel CAD
- Strong understanding of jewellery manufacturing processes (casting, polishing, stone setting)
- Knowledge of metal weights, gemstone settings, and measurements
- High attention to detail and design accuracy
- Creative thinking with strong visualization skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects
Qualifications:
- Diploma / Degree in Jewellery Design, CAD Design, or related field
- Certification in CAD software (preferred)
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in gold, diamond, or fashion jewellery design
- Exposure to 3D printing and rapid prototyping
- Experience working in a manufacturing setup
