Key responsibilities include providing basic counseling to clients, families, or inmates; preparing initial treatment plans, psychosocial evaluations, and case histories; and assessing client needs to establish community referral sources for medical, housing, or financial assistance. Trainees also motivate clients to cope with problems, maintain accurate records, and act as an advocate to secure emergency or specialized services.
