Plant Operations Manager

Job Summary
We are looking for a hands-on and experienced Plant Operations Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing facility. The candidate will be responsible for production performance, manpower management, maintenance coordination, quality, safety, and operational reporting.
The role requires strong shop-floor involvement, problem-solving ability, and the ability to build a disciplined and performance-driven manufacturing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day plant operations and ensure production targets are achieved.
- Convert monthly production requirements into weekly, daily, and shift-wise production plans.
- Monitor production output, capacity utilization, downtime, cycle time, throughput, yield, scrap, rework, and labour productivity.
- Identify production losses and implement effective root-cause and corrective actions.
- Establish proper shift handovers, SOPs, checklists, and reporting systems.
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance with internal teams and external service providers.
- Improve equipment availability and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Manage supervisors, operators, technicians, and support staff.
- Ensure adequate manpower, shift coverage, employee training, and performance management.
- Maintain quality standards from incoming materials through production and final dispatch.
- Ensure customer orders are produced as per required specifications, quantity, and delivery schedule.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, health, and workplace requirements.
- Support production trials, equipment commissioning, process improvements, and capacity expansion.
- Maintain proper control of raw materials, WIP, finished goods, stores, and production records.
- Prepare accurate and timely reports for management covering production performance, bottlenecks, quality issues, and operational risks.
- Identify problems early and implement practical solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement, workplace discipline, and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field.
- 6–12 years of relevant manufacturing experience with responsibility for production and manpower.
- Experience in production line and shift management.
- Good knowledge of maintenance coordination, production planning, quality control, and operational KPIs.
- Experience in industries such as injection molding, plastics, automotive components, engineering products, food processing, consumer goods, packaging, or other high-volume/process-driven manufacturing is preferred.
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance, root-cause analysis, process control, and continuous improvement.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Hands-on approach with willingness to spend substantial time on the shop floor.
- Good leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage and lead operators, supervisors, and technical personnel.
- Fluent in Tamil and professionally proficient in English.
- Hindi or another Indian language will be an advantage.
- Must be based in Dharapuram or willing to relocate within practical commuting distance.
- Must be comfortable working on-site and handling urgent operational requirements when necessary.

Preferred Manufacturing Background
Candidates with experience in injection molding, plastics, automotive components, industrial products, food processing, consumer goods, packaging, or similar manufacturing environments are preferred.
Direct wet-molded fiber or pulp-molding experience is not required.
Pay: ₹25,037.47 - ₹50,590.51 per month
