JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a qualified and experienced Safety Officer to ensure a safe and compliant working environment within our pharmaceutical/API manufacturing facility. The candidate will be responsible for identifying workplace hazards, implementing safety procedures, conducting inspections and audits, managing emergency preparedness, and ensuring compliance with applicable safety and statutory requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Workplace Safety & Inspection
- Conduct daily routine safety inspections of the plant, production, warehouse, utility and other areas.
- Identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions and ensure timely corrective action.
- Monitor compliance with company safety rules, procedures and EHS policies.
- Ensure proper usage of PPE by employees, contractors and visitors.
HIRA & Risk Assessment
- Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA).
- Prepare and review Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
- Identify chemical, mechanical, electrical, fire and process-related hazards.
- Recommend and implement suitable control measures.
Work Permit System
- Monitor and control Hot Work, Cold Work, Height Work, Confined Space Entry, Excavation and other work permits.
- Ensure proper authorization and safety precautions before starting any high-risk activity.
- Ensure effective implementation of LOTO procedures.
Fire & Emergency Safety
- Conduct regular inspection of fire extinguishers, hydrant systems, fire alarms and emergency equipment.
- Plan and coordinate fire drills, mock drills and emergency response exercises.
- Ensure emergency exits, escape routes and assembly points are properly maintained.
- Support emergency response and evacuation activities.
Incident Investigation
- Investigate accidents, near misses, unsafe conditions and incidents.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and identify root causes.
- Recommend and follow up on CAPA implementation.
- Maintain accident and incident records.
Safety Training & Awareness
- Conduct safety induction training for new employees, contractors and visitors.
- Conduct toolbox talks and regular safety awareness programs.
- Provide training on PPE, chemical handling, fire safety, emergency procedures and safe work practices.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the organization.
Chemical & Process Safety
- Ensure safe handling, storage and transportation of hazardous chemicals.
- Ensure availability and awareness of SDS/MSDS.
- Monitor chemical storage areas and compatibility requirements.
- Ensure proper labelling and safety signage.
Contractor Safety Management
- Ensure contractor safety compliance before and during work activities.
- Conduct contractor safety induction and toolbox talks.
- Monitor contractor PPE and safe work practices.
- Maintain contractor safety records.
EHS Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain safety inspection reports, training records, mock drill records, incident reports and corrective action records.
- Support internal and external EHS audits.
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with departments for closure of safety observations and audit findings.
Pay: ₹400,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
