Job Description – CAD/CAM Engineer
Position Details

Position Overview
· The CAD/CAM Engineer will be responsible for developing efficient machining strategies and generating CNC programs for precision aerospace components using SolidCAM and SolidWorks. The role requires strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, fixtures, and aerospace component requirements. The engineer will also support fixture design, process optimization, and manufacturing feasibility.
Key Responsibilities – CAM Programming
· Generate CNC programs using SolidCAM for multi-axis CNC machining centers and turning centers.
· Develop machining strategies for aerospace structural components .
· Optimize machining cycles to improve productivity and tool life.
· Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for materials such as aluminum alloys, stainless steel, titanium, and aerospace-grade materials.
· Simulate machining processes and verify programs to eliminate potential collisions.
CAD & Fixture Design
· Use SolidWorks to design simple work holdings, jigs, and fixtures for machining operations.
· Design and modify precision components and tooling models as required.
· Prepare 3D models and 2D drawings for fixtures and manufacturing support.
Process Planning
· Analyze customer drawings, models, and specifications.
· Develop manufacturing process plans and machining sequences.
· Prepare setup sheets, tool lists, and machining documentation for production.
Manufacturing Support
· Work closely with CNC operators and production teams to ensure smooth execution of machining programs.
· Troubleshoot machining issues and improve processes when required.
· Support first article manufacturing and validation of new parts.
Quality & Compliance
· Ensure programs meet aerospace quality standards and tolerances.
· Support inspection requirements and GD&T interpretation.
· Maintain proper revision control of programs and engineering data.
Required Technical Skills
· Strong working knowledge of SolidCAM for CNC programming.
· Proficiency in SolidWorks for CAD modeling and fixture design.
· Good understanding of CNC machining processes.
· Knowledge of cutting tools, machining parameters, and materials.
· Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
· Understanding of precision tolerances in aerospace components.
Education
· Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree/ Master’s in Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering / Manufacturing Engineering.
Preferred Experience
· Experience in aerospace component machining environment.
· Exposure to multi-axis CNC machining centers.
· Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems is an advantage.
