General Summary:
Qualcomm ADAS/AD Solutions team is engaged in offering optimized solutions to Qualcomm ADAS/Autonomy SoCs. We are seeking engineers who can lead ADAS solution level functional safety Architecture.
The job requires understanding and defining of the Safety Concept and Architecture of ADAS solution, Software Safety requirements, defining and deploying safety processes and development of Safety software by following the ISO26262, SOTIF and related software processes. Interaction with customers, architects and test/integration teams is required as part of the job. The job also involves working with the safety managers and Software quality team for adherence of ISO26262/SOTIF/ASPICE processes.

As a Qualcomm Functional Safety ADAS/AD Systems Architect, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop ADAS/AD solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
- 3+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
Responsibilities shall Include the Following:
Lead functional safety related activities for ADAS/AD stack development and ensure ISO 26262 compliance with respect to SW architecture, development processes, and work products.
Lead the functional Safety architecture for the ADAS/AD solution: Lead Safety arch aspects of: ADAS stack and related components, Tier-1 and Tier-2 level ADAS/AD software arch, integration for the ADAS/AD solution including the interfacing with SOC platform
Act as primary customer interface for safety topics (FuSa & SOTIF); drive alignment, risk management, and milestone readiness.
Lead the customer/OEM/Partner engagements with OEMs/Tier-1/Partners from Safety perspective
Influences platform-level safety and system engineering strategy
Lead ISO 26262 Part 2 activities (planning, coordination, reporting, assessment readiness).
Drive concept-phase (Part 3) work products including analyses (e.g., HARA, concept definitions) and alignment with stakeholders.
Lead the functional Safety activities of the ADAS/AD solution from ISO26262 Part4 and Part-6 perspective
Own system-level (Part 4) work products such as Technical Safety Concept, technical safety requirements, and system architecture alignment, Safety Case, etc according to ISO26262
Own and manage DIA (Development Interface Agreement) including responsibilities, work product exchange, and assumptions.
Communicates and coordinates FuSa topics within the project(s).
Conduct and support safety/ISO26262 and SOTIF/ISO21448 analyses (e.g. HARA, FMEA, FTA, HAZOP, DFA, STPA/RRA) and identify areas of improvement.
Lead and coordinate SOTIF (ISO 21448) work packages, planning, and status tracking.
Ensures proper requirements management and traceability
Ensures the adherence to SW safety methods & metrics
Working with vendors and partners to ensure functional safety requirements are fulfilled by the components that they provide
Work with internal and external functional safety assessors to ensure compliance with ISO 26262
Working with Cyber Security (ISO 21434) architects and analyzing its impact on safety life cycle
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
14-18 years of industry experience in Systems, Embedded Software, and Safety Engineering in in the automotive domain
Minimum 4 years’ experience in ISO26262 (Part 6 and Part4 in specific)
Experience in functional safety software architecture in Automotive Domain: Safety software architecture specification, Safety Requirements definition, safety software development
Expertise in safety analyses Techniques (e.g. HARA, FMEA, FTA, HAZOP, DFA) and identify areas of improvement.
Experience in defining Software architecture, Software Design and implementation of ADAS/AD Stack, ADAS/AD solutions for Automotive SoCs
Knowledge and experience in the development of ECU ADAS/AD SW for the automotive industry
Motivated self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to work with engineers/partners/customers across different geographies. Demonstrated experience working with senior management in a corporate environment. Demonstrated experience in business process streamlining and transformation that includes disciplined approach to digitized services enabling.
Collaborative work experience with good communication skills involving customers, vendors, and internal development teams.
Working Experience with SoC BSP, Middleware frameworks such as Adaptive Autosar and Classic Autosar
Experience in customer-facing technical roles.
Strong analytical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on SOTIF analysis experience compliant to ISO 21448
Knowledge of ISO 8800/AI/ML systems or safety of AI systems
Hands on Requirements Management Tools and establishing traceability for functional safety requirements e.g. DOORS, Codebeamer, etc.
Knowledge in ASPICE, safety analyses and requirements management
Expertise with Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
Experience applying SEooC according to ISO 26262
Hands-on experience applying STPA for SOTIF analysis
Certified for ISO 26262, 21448, 21434, 8800
Knowledge of ISO 8800/AI/ML systems or safety of AI systems
Compliance experience with Cyber Security (ISO 21434) and its impact on safety life cycle is nice to have
Ideal candidate for this position is someone who has experience in both software architecture and safety architecture with a background in design and implementation
Good understanding of SoC architecture, ARM architecture, SoC Peripherals, low level BSP Software/drivers, RTOS
Good understanding of operating systems such as Linux/QNX/RTOS
Experience in leading safety arch activities of complex SoC software.
Programming Languages: C/C++
Experience with complete SDLC and related processes
Experience with tools for static analysis, code coverage
Knowledge of various tools and methods related for functional safety/ISO26262 (Requirements Management, Static/dynamic analysis, Safety Analysis, Safety software design, implementation, and
