Role Overview:
We are seeking a qualified, detail-oriented, and research-driven Research Pharmacist to join the Clinical Research team at Jothydev's Diabetes Hospital and Research Centre. The candidate will play a key role in the management of investigational medicinal products (IMPs), ensuring compliance with clinical research protocols, regulatory requirements, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines. The Research Pharmacist will collaborate with investigators, study coordinators, and sponsors to support the safe and effective conduct of clinical trials, particularly in diabetes and related metabolic disorders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the receipt, storage, dispensing, accountability, and return/destruction of investigational medicinal products (IMPs) in accordance with study protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Review study protocols and pharmacy manuals to ensure compliance with clinical trial procedures.
- Dispense investigational products accurately as per protocol and maintain complete documentation of drug accountability.
- Ensure proper storage conditions, temperature monitoring, and inventory management of investigational products.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records, logs, and documentation in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), institutional policies, and regulatory guidelines.
- Coordinate with principal investigators, clinical research coordinators, sponsors, and monitors regarding investigational product management.
- Participate in site initiation, monitoring, audit, and regulatory inspections related to pharmacy activities.
- Counsel study participants on the proper use, storage, administration, and adherence to investigational medications when required.
- Monitor investigational product inventory, expiry dates, reconciliation, and timely replenishment.
- Report and document protocol deviations, product discrepancies, and medication-related issues as per study requirements.
- Ensure compliance with institutional ethics committee, regulatory authority, and sponsor requirements.
- Assist in developing and maintaining pharmacy standard operating procedures (SOPs) for clinical research activities.
- Support training of research staff on investigational product handling and pharmacy-related study procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of study participants and research data at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) from a recognized institution.
- Valid Pharmacist Registration Certificate from the State Pharmacy Council.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in clinical research pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, or clinical trials preferred.
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ICH guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Experience in diabetes clinical research or investigational drug management will be an added advantage.
- Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in pharmacy documentation and basic computer applications.
- Strong attention to detail, ethical standards, and commitment to research quality.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of investigational medicinal product (IMP) management and clinical trial documentation.
- Familiarity with diabetes medications, insulin handling, and clinical research protocols.
- Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary clinical research teams.
- Strong documentation, inventory management, and audit preparedness skills.
- Ability to manage multiple clinical studies while maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Commitment to patient safety, data integrity, and high-quality clinical research.
