The GM – Design & Engineering will lead the organization’s product design and engineering function, ensuring the development of globally competitive, innovative, and cost-effective products aligned with customer needs and market demands.
The role is responsible for driving product innovation, engineering excellence, and design strategy, ensuring that products deliver superior performance, manufacturability, maintainability, ergonomics, and aesthetics. The position plays a critical role in strengthening the company’s reputation as a market leader in engineering and manufacturing solutions.
Education
Mandatory Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Full-time) from Tier-1 institutes (Top 150 NIRF ranked colleges such as NITs, Regional Engineering Colleges, or leading Indian universities).
- Master’s Degree in Engineering Design (Full-time) from IITs, NITs, or Top 50 Universities.
- Candidates must have qualified through GATE or equivalent university entrance examination.
Experience
Tenure
- 18–24 years of total industry experience in Machine Building or EPC industries, managing multiple customer orders simultaneously.
- Minimum 15–18 years of experience in Design & Engineering functions (exposure to electrical engineering will be an added advantage).
- Minimum 6–8 years in a senior leadership role such as Design Head / Engineering Lead after completion of postgraduate studies.
- Candidates may have either: Completed UG + PG continuously before starting their career, or Worked after UG and later completed Full-time PG.
- Must have worked in at least two organizations and received at least one promotion during tenure.
Technical Exposure Required:
- Manufacturing processes such as Rolling, Casting, Precision Machining, Fabrication, and Gear Manufacturing.

Strategic Management
- Develop and implement design strategies aligned with organizational business goals.
- Lead, mentor, and coach the design engineering team, ensuring capability development and performance improvement.
- Identify, recruit, train, and develop engineering talent using best-in-class design methodologies.
- Define design briefs and project plans, ensuring seamless execution from concept to completion.
- Collaborate closely with marketing, customer operations, service, and manufacturing teams to integrate cross-functional insights into product design.
- Ensure designs meet performance, quality, cost, and timeline expectations.
- Present design concepts, technical solutions, and prototypes to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Conduct market research and trend analysis to maintain competitive product innovation.
- Drive standardization initiatives to enhance serviceability and long-term product reliability.
- Lead value engineering initiatives to optimize product cost and performance.
- Maintain a strong innovation pipeline by anticipating emerging design trends and market shifts.
Operational & Daily Work Management
- Supervise and guide the design engineering team, providing regular feedback and performance evaluation.
- Plan, schedule, and monitor design activities and project timelines, reporting progress to management.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and other departments to ensure design feasibility, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Lead the design and development of extruder accessories and release engineering drawings for prototype products.
- Ensure accurate documentation and BOM availability for all manufactured extruders.
- Review and approve design prototypes and final engineering outputs.
- Work closely with suppliers, contractors, and external design partners to ensure adherence to project specifications.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, engineering regulations, and best practices.
- Continuously identify and resolve design gaps affecting service support.
- Review gearbox design performance, including resolving high-RPM related issues.
- Lead initiatives to design and develop cost-effective twin screw extruders.
- Identify design limitations and implement permanent engineering solutions.
- Ensure extruder designs are robust, maintenance-friendly, and highly reliable.

- On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery of design outputs.
- Reduction in product lead times through design optimization initiatives.
- Reduction in material costs through value engineering and design improvements.
