Role Overview
The Reporting Technician will be responsible for the post-testing reporting workflow, including verification of
results, report preparation, LIS entry, report formatting, quality checks and timely publishing of pathology reports.
The candidate should have a strong understanding of IT-Dose/LIS workflows and be comfortable working with
laboratory information systems.
Key Responsibilities
A. Report Processing
● Receive completed test results from laboratory analyzers/LIS.
● Review reports for completeness and consistency.
● Ensure all ordered tests are accounted for.
● Identify missing, pending or technically questionable results.
● Coordinate with laboratory technicians for discrepancies.
B. IT-Dose / LIS Operations
● Perform patient/sample accessioning and data entry in IT-Dose/LIS.
● Enter, verify and process laboratory results.
● Maintain accurate patient demographics and test information.
● Generate and format pathology reports.
● Manage report status from sample received → testing → verification → reporting → publishing.
● Identify and resolve basic LIS workflow issues.
● Coordinate with IT/LIS support for system-related problems.
C. Report Quality Check
Verify:
● Patient name
● Age/gender
● Sample ID
● Test name
● Results
● Units
● Reference ranges
● Flags/comments
● Report completeness
● Identify discrepancies between analyzer output and LIS.
● Ensure no incomplete or incorrect report is published.
● Escalate critical/abnormal results according to the defined SOP.
D. TAT Management
● Monitor reports pending for verification/publishing.
● Ensure reports are published within defined TAT.
● Maintain a pending-report tracker.
● Escalate TAT breaches proactively.
● Coordinate with laboratory and reporting teams to close pending cases.
E. Coordination
Coordinate closely with:
● Laboratory Technicians
● Senior Technician
● Lab Manager
● Pathologists/authorized signatories
● Operations team
● IT/LIS support
F. Documentation & Quality
● Maintain report correction/revision logs.
● Maintain records of report amendments.
● Follow report authorization and approval workflows.
● Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
● Follow all reporting SOPs and quality protocols.
Required Qualifications
● DMLT (Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology) / B.Sc. MLT / relevant medical laboratory
qualification.
● 1–3 years of experience in pathology reporting/LIS operations preferred.
● Hands-on experience with IT-Dose or a similar LIS.
● Good understanding of pathology test parameters and laboratory terminology.
● Good computer and data-entry skills.
● Strong attention to detail.

● Understanding of Hematology, Biochemistry, Immunology and Urinalysis
● Good Excel/computer skills
