What’s unique about this role?
The Associate Database Administrator (DBA) is an entry-level position responsible for supporting the database team in maintaining, monitoring, and administering enterprise database systems. Working under the guidance of senior DBAs, this role focuses on learning and applying foundational database practices, ensuring data availability, reliability, and performance, and gaining the skills needed to manage production database environments effectively.
What will this person do?

Perform routine database backups, restores, and integrity checks.

Assist with user account creation, access provisioning, and security permissions.

Apply patches, updates, and minor configuration changes under supervision.

Execute standard operating procedures and runbooks; escalate issues when required.

Help with data import/export activities and basic maintenance scripts.

Document processes, incidents, and solutions, and contribute to the team knowledge base.

Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and support teams to troubleshoot database-related issues.

Monitor database health, performance, and availability to ensure optimal operations

Experience: 0–2 years of experience in IT operations, database support, or system administration.

Basic understanding of SQL concepts, including queries, joins, indexing, and schema structure.

Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux server environments.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Eagerness to learn and grow into a full Database Administrator role.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Exposure to relational database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.

Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, or Python).

Understanding of backup/restore strategies and database security fundamentals.
Work Environment and Physical Demands

Duties are performed in a typical office environment while at a desk or computer table.

Duties require the ability to use a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material, in a quiet and professional setting.

Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
