impact across India, we are looking for a finance professional who can strengthen our financial systems,
ensure compliance, and support sound financial decision-making.
Role Summary
The Manager – Accounts & Finance will be responsible for overseeing the organization's finance and
accounting function, ensuring robust financial management, statutory compliance, budgeting, donor
financial stewardship, and cash flow planning. The role will work closely with the CEO, program teams,
auditors, banks, statutory authorities, and an outsourced accounting partner to ensure accurate financial
reporting, strong financial controls, and effective financial management.
The role will serve as a strategic finance partner to the leadership team, enabling informed
decision-making through sound financial planning, analysis, and stewardship.
As a member of the Extended Leadership Team (XLT), the Manager – Accounts & Finance will
contribute to organizational strategy, cross-functional collaboration, and strengthening Makkala Jagriti's
systems, culture, and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Cash Flow Management
● Prepare and monitor monthly, quarterly, and annual cash flow forecasts.
● Monitor organizational liquidity and identify potential funding gaps.
● Monitor grant timelines, expected donor inflows, project commitments, and cash flow
requirements across multiple funding sources (including FCRA, local, and donor-specific
accounts) to proactively identify funding gaps and support timely financial decision-making.
● Develop donor-wise and account-wise cash flow projections.
● Support leadership in financial planning and decision-making.
● Prepare financial scenarios for new grants, expansion plans, and strategic initiatives.
● Provide financial insights and recommendations to support organizational growth.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
● Lead the annual organizational budgeting process.
● Monitor project and departmental budgets.
● Conduct monthly Budget vs. Actual analysis and highlight key variances.
● Support program teams with budget planning, revisions, and forecasting.
● Prepare financial dashboards, MIS reports, and financial analyses for leadership and the Board.
● Monitor organizational overheads and support long-term financial sustainability.
Donor Financial Management
● Monitor donor-wise budgets and fund utilization.
● Ensure expenditure complies with donor agreements and approved budgets.
● Prepare donor financial reports, utilization statements, and supporting schedules.
● Support proposal budgeting for fundraising opportunities.
● Track restricted and unrestricted funds separately.
● Coordinate financial documentation for donor due diligence and grant compliance.
Accounts & Finance Operations
● Coordinate with the outsourced accounting and bookkeeping partner to ensure accurate and
timely accounting.
● Review accounting entries, reconciliations, and monthly financial statements.
● Ensure timely processing of vendor payments, employee reimbursements, and payroll.
● Monitor accounts payable, receivables, bank reconciliations, and financial records.
● Ensure accurate maintenance of supporting schedules and financial documentation.
Compliance & Audit
● Ensure compliance with Income Tax, TDS, PF, ESI, Professional Tax, GST (where applicable),
FCRA, and other statutory requirements.
● Maintain a statutory compliance calendar and ensure timely statutory filings.
● Coordinate statutory, donor, internal, and FCRA audits.
● Liaise with auditors, consultants, banks, and regulatory authorities.
● Ensure timely closure of audit observations and implementation of recommendations.
Financial Systems & Internal Controls
● Strengthen financial policies, internal controls, and standard operating procedures.
● Ensure organization-wide adherence to Makkala Jagriti's financial policies and procedures, and
promote compliance through guidance, training, and periodic reviews.
● Review and improve finance processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
● Support implementation and optimization of finance systems and ERP platforms.
● Ensure proper documentation and record management to meet audit and compliance
requirements.
● Build financial awareness across the organization by partnering with program and functional
teams to strengthen budgeting, financial planning, and responsible resource utilization.
● Identify opportunities for automation and continuous process improvement.
Qualifications
● Chartered Accountant (CA), CMA, MBA (Finance), M.Com, or an equivalent qualification.
● 8-12 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting.
● Experience in the nonprofit, CSR, or development sector will be an advantage.
● Experience in managing donor-funded projects and statutory compliance is preferred.

● Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management.
● Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
● Knowledge of statutory compliance, FCRA, and donor financial reporting.
● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
● High attention to detail and accuracy.
● Excellent stakeholder management and coordination skills.
● Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
● Experience with accounting/ERP systems is essential; exposure to Zoho Books will be an added
advantage.
● Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
