Position: Environmental Expert

Reporting To: Project Manager / Team Leader
Job Summary
The Environmental Expert will be responsible for ensuring that all construction activities are carried out in compliance with applicable environmental laws, project environmental requirements, and approved Environmental Management Plans (EMP).
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor environmental compliance at the project site and ensure implementation of the approved EMP.
- Conduct regular inspections of construction activities and identify environmental risks and impacts.
- Ensure proper management of waste, debris, hazardous materials, and construction-generated waste.
- Monitor air quality, water pollution, noise, dust, and soil-related environmental impacts.
- Ensure proper disposal and handling of solid waste, wastewater, and other pollutants.
- Monitor protection of trees, vegetation, water bodies, and surrounding natural resources.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager, Site Engineers, contractors, and relevant government authorities on environmental matters.
- Maintain environmental records, registers, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare daily/monthly environmental monitoring and compliance reports.
- Assist in obtaining and maintaining required environmental permissions, clearances, and NOCs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental rules, regulations, and contractual requirements.
- Conduct awareness and training programs for workers and staff regarding environmental protection, waste management, and pollution control.
- Report environmental non-compliances and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Support environmental audits, inspections, and monitoring conducted by the client/consultants or authorities.
- Perform any other environmental-related duties assigned by the Project Manager.
Qualification
- Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in construction/infrastructure projects will be preferred.
- Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, EMP implementation, and environmental monitoring.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of environmental management and construction-site practices.
- Strong reporting and documentation skills.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to conduct site inspections and identify environmental risks.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Ability to work independently at project sites.
