Production Support & Monitoring
Provide L2 support for enterprise CDC platform operating in a 24x5 shift model.
Monitor Debezium connectors, Kafka brokers, Kafka Connect clusters, and data replication pipelines.
Perform proactive monitoring of CDC jobs and identify potential issues before SLA breach.
Track connector health, lag, replication latency, throughput, and error rates.
Validate end-to-end data movement between source systems and Kafka topics
Incident Management
Analyze and resolve production incidents related to CDC pipelines.
Investigate connector failures, replication issues, Kafka consumer lag, and message delivery problems.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and document findings.
Coordinate with application, database, infrastructure, and cloud teams during major incidents.
Ensure adherence to incident, problem, and change management processes.
Kafka & Debezium Administration
Monitor Kafka clusters, topics, partitions, brokers, and consumer groups.
Support deployment, restart, and recovery activities for Debezium connectors.
Troubleshoot snapshot failures, schema evolution issues, offset management, and connector rebalancing.
Validate CDC configurations for Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and Salesforce integrations.
Support Kafka Connect and Confluent ecosystem components.
Operational Excellence
Execute daily platform health checks and readiness assessments.
Maintain operational runbooks, support documentation, and troubleshooting guides.
Participate in change implementation, release validation, and production deployments.
Work closely with L3 engineering teams for complex issue resolution.
Ensure adherence to defined SLAs and operational KPIs.
Primary Skills (Mandatory)
Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and Kafka Connect.
Experience supporting Debezium CDC connectors in production environments.
Good understanding of:
Oracle CDC
MSSQL CDC
MySQL CDC
Salesforce data integration concepts
Knowledge of:
Kafka topics, partitions, replication factors
Consumer groups and offset management
Kafka cluster monitoring and troubleshooting
Connector lifecycle management
Experience using Linux/Unix environments.
Strong SQL skills for data validation and issue investigation.
Monitoring & Support Tools
Experience with operational monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Control Center, Splunk, ELK, or equivalent.
