Job Summary
The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain LAN/WAN network infrastructure across the plant. Support and monitor industrial networks connecting MES, SCADA, PLCs, and shop floor devices. Configure and manage network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points. Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues impacting production systems. Ensure high availability and redundancy of network services to minimize downtime. Manage network security, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems. Perform network monitoring and performance tuning using monitoring tools. Support network upgrades, expansions, and patching activities. Collaborate with IT, production, and automation teams for integration of plant systems. Maintain network documentation including diagrams, configurations, and procedures. Ensure compliance with IT security policies and industrial standards.
Skill Requirements
Strong knowledge of: Networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN) Routing & switching technologies Familiarity with: Industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP) Network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG)
