Role Purpose
The Credit Manager is responsible for managing credit control, collections, billing monitoring, and receivables management. The role focuses on reducing outstanding exposure, ensuring timely collections, maintaining credit discipline, and supporting business operations through effective coordination with sales and accounts teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Credit Control & Collection
- Manage customer outstanding and overdue recovery
- Ensure timely collection from retailers and distributors
- Monitor ageing reports and reduce overdue exposure
- Follow up with ASM and sales teams for collections
- Control bad debts and manage high-risk accounts
2. Billing & Credit Monitoring
- Monitor and control credit limits as per company policy
- Ensure billing is aligned with payment performance
- Stop billing for high overdue accounts when required
- Ensure proper approval process before billing
3. Reporting & MIS Management
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly collection reports
- Share ageing, outstanding, and exposure reports with management
- Maintain accurate customer ledger and payment records
- Track retailer-wise and ASM-wise outstanding
4. Team Handling & Coordination
- Manage and guide a team of 2–6 members
- Monitor daily team performance and follow-ups
- Conduct training for billing and collection processes
- Ensure coordination between billing, accounts, and sales teams
5. Retailer & Dispute Management
- Handle retailer payment and billing disputes
- Coordinate with sales teams for issue resolution
- Maintain strong and professional relationships with retailers
6. ERP & Process Management
- Work on Tally and ERPNext systems
- Handle reconciliation and accounting entries
- Improve internal credit control processes
- Ensure accuracy in billing and collection operations
7. Compliance & Business Support
- Ensure adherence to company credit policies
- Monitor GST, TDS, and financial documentation
- Support business growth while maintaining payment discipline
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Performance will be evaluated against, but not limited to, the following metrics:
- Reduction in overdue outstanding
- Improvement in collection efficiency
- Control on bad debts and high-risk accounts
- Accuracy in billing and credit approvals
- Timely MIS reporting
- Team productivity and performance
- Compliance with credit policies
Required Competencies
- Strong knowledge of credit control and collections
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of accounting and billing processes
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Leadership and team management ability
- Proficiency in Tally, ERP systems, and MS Excel
- Ability to work under pressure and deadlines
Qualifications & Experience
- MBA in Finance (Preferred)
- 3–4 years of experience in credit control, collections, and AR management
- Experience in distribution/retail industry preferred
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Experience in handling retailer/distributor accounts
- Strong follow-up and coordination skills
- Ability to manage team and multiple stakeholders
- High ownership and result-oriented approach
- Experience in ERP systems like Tally and ERPNext
