Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of HPL (High Pressure Laminate) and SCL (Surface Compact Laminate) Press Lines, including hydraulic press systems, loading & unloading systems, material handling equipment, and associated auxiliaries.
- Design complete HPL/SCL press line solutions based on customer requirements, production capacities, and industry standards.
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D engineering models, manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, and BOMs using AutoCAD and Solid Edge/SolidWorks.
- Perform engineering calculations for press frames, hydraulic cylinders, platens, structural components, pressure distribution, and machine performance.
- Design and optimize hydraulic systems, heating & cooling arrangements, daylight configurations, and structural assemblies to improve machine efficiency, reliability, and operational performance.
- Establish project timelines and ensure timely release of engineering drawings while maintaining quality and minimizing design revisions.
- Coordinate with Sales, Application Engineering, Production, Procurement, Electrical & Controls, and Quality teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Standardize HPL/SCL press line designs to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce lead times, and optimize project costs.
- Manage engineering documentation, Item Codes, Bill of Materials (BOM), drawing revisions, and design data through ERP and server systems.
- Provide technical support during manufacturing, assembly, installation, commissioning, and customer site troubleshooting.
- Analyse and resolve design, hydraulic, structural, and operational issues related to HPL/SCL press lines and associated equipment.
- Mentor junior design engineers by reviewing designs, sharing technical knowledge, and promoting engineering best practices.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on project status, design progress, resource utilization, and departmental performance.
- Stay updated with advancements in HPL/SCL manufacturing technology, hydraulic systems, material handling equipment, and engineering software.
Qualification, Skills & Knowledge
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5–10 years of experience in designing HPL/SCL Press Lines, Hydraulic Presses, Material Handling Systems, or Heavy Industrial Machinery.
- Strong understanding of HPL and SCL manufacturing processes, laminate pressing technology, press cycles, hydraulic systems, pressure distribution, and thermal management.
- Hands-on experience in designing heavy fabricated structures, hydraulic cylinders, platens, press frames, conveyors, loading/unloading systems, and other auxiliary equipment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Solid Edge/SolidWorks for mechanical design.
- Sound knowledge of fabrication processes, machining practices, welding standards, GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and material selection.
- Experience in engineering calculations, structural analysis, and design validation (FEA knowledge will be an added advantage).
- Working knowledge of ERP systems for Item Master creation, BOM management, and engineering documentation.
- Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
- Excellent project planning, communication, stakeholder management, and leadership capabilities.
- Ability to mentor engineering teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Role Success Measures
- Deliver HPL/SCL press line designs with 95% or higher adherence to project schedules and drawing release timelines.
- Produce high-quality engineering designs with minimal revisions, rework, or manufacturing deviations.
- Successfully execute HPL/SCL press line projects that meet customer performance, quality, safety, and reliability expectations.
- Improve machine performance through optimized hydraulic, structural, thermal, and material handling designs.
- Ensure effective collaboration with cross-functional teams for smooth manufacturing, assembly, commissioning, and project delivery.
- Resolve design and technical issues promptly to minimize project delays.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation, BOMs, ERP records, and revision control.
- Drive continuous improvement in design standardization, engineering efficiency, cost optimization, and innovation.
- Develop and mentor junior engineers while fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
Pay: ₹1,000,000.00 - ₹1,500,000.00 per year
