Job Summary:
The Tender Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimates for tenders/bids. The role involves analyzing drawings, BOQs, and specifications to determine material, labor, equipment, and overhead costs, ensuring profitability while meeting client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tender Analysis: Study RFP, RFQ, drawings, BOQ, and contract terms to understand scope of work.
- Cost Estimation: Calculate quantities and prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and overheads.
- Vendor Coordination: Float enquiries to suppliers/subcontractors, compare quotations, and negotiate rates.
- Bid Preparation: Compile technical and commercial bid documents, fill BOQ rates, and prepare proposal packages.
- Risk Assessment: Identify risks, exclusions, and qualifications in the tender. Suggest cost-saving alternatives.
- Site Visits: Visit project sites when required to assess conditions impacting cost.
- Documentation: Maintain estimation database, rate library, and historical cost data for future reference.
- Coordination: Liaise with design, engineering, procurement, and project teams for inputs.
- Post-Tender: Attend pre-bid meetings, technical discussions, and support negotiation with clients.
