Job Title: STP Operator

Job Summary
The STP Operator is responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) to ensure efficient treatment of wastewater in compliance with environmental regulations. The role includes operating treatment equipment, monitoring water quality, maintaining plant records, and ensuring the safe and uninterrupted functioning of the STP.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) as per standard operating procedures.
- Ensure proper treatment of wastewater to meet pollution control and environmental standards.
- Monitor plant equipment including pumps, blowers, motors, filters, valves, and dosing systems.
- Check and record operating parameters such as pH, TDS, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, and chlorine levels.
- Perform routine inspections of treatment units and identify any operational abnormalities.
- Carry out backwashing, sludge handling, and cleaning of tanks and filtration systems.
- Prepare and maintain daily operational logs, maintenance records, and water quality reports.
- Coordinate with external laboratories for periodic water sample testing when required.
- Perform preventive maintenance and report equipment failures for timely repairs.
- Ensure proper chemical dosing and safe handling of treatment chemicals.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of the STP area.
- Follow all environmental, health, and safety regulations while operating the plant.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team during breakdowns and shutdown activities.
- Assist during inspections by regulatory authorities and ensure all statutory records are maintained.
- Ensure uninterrupted operation of the STP to support the park's daily operations.
Qualifications
- ITI, Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in STP/ETP Operations will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in operating a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) or Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP).
- Experience in hotels, resorts, hospitals, commercial buildings, manufacturing units, or amusement parks will be preferred.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of STP processes and wastewater treatment systems.
- Understanding of pumps, motors, blowers, valves, and electrical control panels.
- Ability to monitor water quality parameters and maintain operational records.
- Basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance skills.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and pollution control standards.
- Safe handling of treatment chemicals and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Good record-keeping and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and respond quickly during equipment failures.
